Mazzy
£34M is simultaneously way too much and also hardly anything. Considering his age and experience at a high level it's decent for a CB that can still improve.
Willow
It's not my money so I couldn't give a shit! Get him in, let Eddie work his magic and he'll be in the Germany squad soon enough
Wilson
Couldn't give a fuck how much we pay tbh. If the club think they can afford it and still get others we need, that's good enough for me.
nemtizz
As long as he can run it’s a good signing.

Milburn
Just now, Wolfcastle said: Not just unexcited by this but also already remorseful about losing the money. Remember "he cant be bad if he's coming from Milan" being said about Andreas Andersson, and that was when Milan were good, very good. Nearly all players bought since the takeover have turned out successful. There is absolutely no reason believing Howe doesn't know what he's doing regarding Thiaw. And by the way, next Saturday we kick off the season with the formerly howler-prone Steve Bruce-reject Fabian Schar in defence and formely patethic striker Joelinton in midfield. I have been critical of Eddie Howe, and I believe that the power he is about to gain at Newcastle is not in the club’s best long-term interest. I am unsure whether he can function well within a modern structure with a sporting director. That said, spotting talent is something I trust him 100%. Well, whatever. Hopefully Eddie can get a tune out of this lad. This will be our Ekitike/Pedro/Sesko/Huijsen debacle in a couple years time.

Zero
Thiaw is exactly the type of player that has excellent natural ability but lack of concentration and football brain. Which is excellent for Howe to tune and drill.
Matt1892
I haven’t seen anything of him to form an opinion on him or his value as a player. However, knowing that he is someone we have been interested in for over a year I don’t know why we have waited until a week before our season starts to make this move. He could have been signed 2 months ago and given time to bed in to the squad. I don’t think we know what we are doing.

You never know — we might learn a thing or two after hunting players also wanted by the cartel. So instead of bidding for Guehi, which would immediately prompt a response from Liverpool, we go for Thiaw.

Genuinely think that’s the biggest embarrassment of a horrific transfer window so far. However, if Howe and the team have fancied him this long then he must have something about him despite the negative noise so fingers crossed this one works out. some of you guys need to grow up or get thicker skin. the amount of "this is so embarrassing" shite going round about our various transfer dealings/attempts... who gives a fuck what non-newcastle fans or the media think. fuck 'em. But at the same time I believe in Eddie as a coach and a developer of talent. gbandit
There’s been a lot of chatter on this one by a lot of people who don’t watch him play much if at all. Curva’s profile on him was helpful. I’m going to trust Nickson on this one as well as Eddie’s coaching
