the entire midfield lost their discipline and shape in that moment, and Elanga should also be in a position to cover. I can’t really put it on Thiaw at all. They’ve given him two players to cover, both of which would drag him miles out of the line.

 

14 and 8 for them are in a chasm of space because the entire midfield moves to press instead of holding shape like they’d done so well when Joelinton and Tonali were on the pitch.

At that stage of the game they should be sat in front of the defence and be in position to pick up the midfield runners for Liverpool.

The reason I mentioned miley is he is our tonali replacement basically the deepest positioned midfielder who's job is to protect the back four.

It's exactly the same as in any other fanbase. Go on any football forum and they're all the same, it's uncanny.

 

Saying that, if people are blaming Tino and Elanga I think it's only fair to explain why they're in the position they were in.
