Gottlob
As a few people have said his pace and power and ability to receive the ball and beat his man on the outside gives us real balance whoever is on the left flank, and I think he's going to be a good player for us. But last season I'd say that Murphy was our most creative wide player, not only putting in good crosses but playing some nice balls from deep as the season progressed, and that isn't really a quality we need less of. If Elangs had Murphys delivery and shot he would cost at least £80-90M.
KaKa
I find it incredible how history is being rewritten now and people are making out Murphy's delivery and finishing is always consistent and on point. It's just unbelievable.

Disco
Looked bright and fearless. Yes it wasn’t ideal but he got our best chance of the game and brought about the red card. Promising signs IMO. A lot better at skipping past people than I anticipated too.
Zero
Genuinely looks a bargain at this price if he is able to dribble on his own and create chances  Very promising debut. If he had squared the ball to Gordon it’s close to a 10 for me.
Dr Venkman
Thought he grew into the game nicely but I was also disappointed he didn’t finish that 1 on 1, I think it’s pretty inexcusable for a forward not to finish those, even Isak.  He got better, though, and it was noticeable that Villa were doubling up on him and no-one else in our team.  He’ll be a good player for us in time, the only question is how soon he’ll start to have a real impact, but I don’t think it will be too long. Gallowgate Toon
Bit mad we've gone from Almiron, the most one-footed player I think I've ever seen for us, to Elanga.

He dribbles with his left a lot despite being predominantly right-footed. Quite the contrast to the Migster.

Unless you Ronaldo level of finishing, they are tough finishes because near post isn't easy because of body shape you are naturally approaching to strike the ball, so you have to hit hard and low across the keeper, aiming for the inside near post. Where the chances of finding that at full running speed is far lower than playing a ball across the box for a tap in.  Peak Barcelona were so good at it. Newcastle Fan
Fast but honestly no end product at all, like we bought Adama Traore, unfair to see Murphy dropped for him.

Max Cherry
No end product? Give over he put good balls in all night BUT WE DON'T HAVE A STRIKERÂ Edited August 26, 2025 by Max Cherry Typo
gbandit
Wasnt watching him all game, his crossing seemed quality but he didn’t seem to buy into the press like a lot of the other players, it looked half hearted as fuck. Maybe he’s not fit enough from Eddie’s coaching drills yet but I want to see more off the ball

The issue is his international teammate who has left him with nothing to hit.
