He looks like he wants the ground to eat him up - it’s been a while since I’ve seen a player so lacking in confidence.

Everytime and I mean Everytime that I have watched him this season I have mostly shaken my head, sometimes slapped the table and a lot of the time screaming at the tv. I'm starting to think that this bloke is a fraud.

He looked shite but playing out on the other wing and then make shift centre forward doesn't help him build any momentum.

He is in desperate need of a goal to try and build some self belief and to then "justify" him keeping his place in the side to get a run of games.

Preferring Barnes to start over your shiny new 55m signing isn't  a good look really but not like he's doing anything to change the managers thoughts.

So sorry, wrong thread. Quick put this in the Anthony Gordon thread.

Forrest must be laughing their cocks off. We’d struggle to get half our money back on him in the summer and fuck knows how much he’s on.

Aye they are doing excellent without him

He’s made that £20m Greek keeper look like a bargain

The only decent signing we ever made from Forrest was Tommy Gaynor on loan. They always fuck us over, heaven knows what this Wilson chap has in store for us in January.

I’m struggling to think of a worse winger I’ve seen in B&W based only on his performances to date (he might well come good).  And I saw Wayne Fereday play.

I feel desperately sorry for the lad at the moment in all honesty - he didn’t pay that ridiculous fee for himself.  He looks like he needs a loan to a different league and get some confidence back.

Doesn't have the belief to run at his full back at the moment, which is a concern when that's his entire game.

Aye. He's looking lost and he's unsure what he should be doing. His touch and passing have been criminal.

Serious question, is this guy an upgrade on almiron? I’m not seeing it so far.

Almiron was immense in the high press. Was probably our best player on that specific trait? Atleast top 3. Also did so much work defensively. For me Elanga needs to outplay Almiron by a margin with what he does on the ball to be better, because he will probably never be as good as Almiron off the ball. So far he hasn't been better on the ball, but there's no way an in form Elanga isn't better with the ball. That's a pretty low bar to beat.[emoji38]

He's having to play a completely different game to what he was intended for. He was bought to match Isak's pace centrally with Gordon being on left doing similar. The whole side have had struggles as we learn how to play with a totally different striker.  The encouraging thing is as bad as he's been he's still trying and showing. He'll get there. We've got a manager who improves players and he's showing willing

If that’s the case then that was a flawed strategy, given that it appears obvious that Isak was wanting out for some time.  Or you sign a CF who plays in a similar fashion to Isak.

Nice to hear the corner getting behind him tonight in the ground.

Aye. Feel a bit sorry for him, can tell he's in his head and is overthinking every touch with how unusually hesitant be looks.

Eddie will put an arm round him and get him firing again I'm sure.

I have too much confidence in our scouting to think he won't come good eventually

However, if he turns out to be our first genuine flop, then it will probably mean we will be more open to non-prem players / players with more footballing ability

The two Anthonys at the moment, a bit like the two Ronnies, except the latter were intentionally being clowns and hit all the right notes.

I desperately want them to get some form and change the narrative, fingers crossed.

The team stinks going forward currently.

No cohesion or rhythm in any of the build up play.

Think the wingers are suffering the most from this, all stemming from the poor full back play going forward.

Murphy is most threatening as he just whips it in as soon as he has a chance.

Gordon and Elanga should be doing the same for the meantime. Now is the time to keep things simple.

But they aren't. Wish someone, anyone would tell them this.

Oh well.

There just isn't enough space for him to attack behind the fullback against the majority of teams that we play. It's no suprise that he looked good against Barcelona and Liverpool. You cant ask for two teams that play a higher line than those.

I'm not sure what he offers when he doesn't have space to run into. He looks technically poor. Doesn't seem to be able to beat his man with the ball at his feet and surprisingly, doesn't seem to even press well. Howe can improve players tactically, but I can't see what he has to work with, with Elanga. Anyway, you don't sign a £55m player to be improved, you sign him to slot straight in, which makes it all the more baffling.
