Newcastle United 3-0 Aston Villa - 26/12/24

Recommended Posts

Obviously it helped them being down to 10 for so long. But we were still creating before that and defending pretty well.

Positive that we were creating so many chances still. Found loads of different ways to break them down. Just a shame that through a bit of bad luck, decision making, poor finishing etc. That we didn’t score more.

I’m not really complaining. It was a proper, professional performance. No idea on MOTM. Schar was very good, I thought.

Absolutely chuffed with that performance today. Nevermind the red card, we were better all over the pitch. Play like that and we'll do those Manchester clowns next week. A special nod to the superb Tonali. Midfield looks class.

Very good 2nd half performance that. Controlled things, didn’t over do it, and unlucky to not win like 5-0.

There was chatter at start of season that our poor start and low tempo, may have been some new conditioning thing so players are in peak fitness for season run in, which giving last week it does start to feel that may be genuine. Proper back to the intensity today.

Am I really bias, as I just looked on Reddit and everyone seems to be saying it was a really harsh red card, whereas I think it was a blatant

It was absolutely a red he knew what he was doing.

Emphatic performance. Absolutely fucking love Eddie Howe's team of punishers. When we smell blood we can be fucking lethal.

Painful to say this, but you'd generally find more balanced footballing takes on RTG than you would on Reddit

Missed the first half and just seen the red.

Dhuran rolled his left ankle just before he put his right foot studs into Schar. Dunno, I think it is a wee bit harsh. I do think it's accidental.

Not complaining mind.

Great goals and what a player Tonali is man.

It's been a red as long as I've been watching football.

We all knew that we needed a creative talent closer to isak to unlock a solid defence now bruno is filling that role. I'd take bruno over a maddison type bruno is a workhorse and doesn't go missing when out of possession.

You know what’s even better than a 3-0 win over Villa? A 3-0 win over Villa when your best mate is a Villa fan, and he’s saying we played poorly and Tonali was only okay. He’s properly rattled [emoji38]

I'd say you're right. When watching it back, it looks like his leg was going to the side of Schar to just land on the ground and he changes that and makes it land on the man instead, then it slips down his back and almost gets his head.

Christ that last part doesn't sound good :-)

A little mention for Dubravka........played his part well again, and certainly looks more confident than Pope when passing out from the back.

If we could press them together into one person without it being a double murder we'd be laughing.
