Tottenham Hotspur 1-2 Newcastle United (04/01/25)

Pundits get all super confused on the handball rules so that now they are angry that a handball that should never be a handball in either principle or by the rules wasnt given because they have seen so many handballs that shouldnt be given and vice versa given. Literally the only argument, that other stupid handball was given so this should be!

If you don't shoot on target, you don't deserve shit.

It’s OK to credit the opposition when they play well (especially in their context). Trying to be as objective as possible, if I was a spurs fan I would feel hard done by.

Had to go out and miss second half, family related issue. Can someone summarise the second half. 👍

Had one big chance but lots of backs to the wall defending without giving away any big chances. Shithousery from us in time wasting.

Gordon took one a massive whack on the nose but I actually don't think it was a penalty.

Has the rule changed from if the assisting player is the one who has handballed it then it can’t be overturned? In terms of VAR overturning it?

They keep talking about if it was accidental or not. My understanding was that if you aren’t the direct goalscorer and the ref doesn’t make the call on the pitch they can’t overturn it?

Jealous of anyone that was there today. Those type of wins are the best away wins in my book.

It’s class winning 4-0 and having a nice sing song and what not, but when you’ve got that jeopardy of hanging on and you finally make it, you can’t beat it.

Should had a pen for that ‘accidental’ on Gordon. Reminded me of VvD the other week.

Then they get a free kick 10 mins later for the exact same thing.

Porro should’ve had a yellow for a pullback when Hall and Gordon were away.

Regullion should have had a yellow for descent, not given.

So many fouls not given our way, but same type of foul given to them.

Up there with one of the worst officiating inconsistencies I’ve seen. And that’s saying something.

For all we can say that 2nd half was poor from us, the reality is there's another team on the pitch trying to win as well. Spurs did very well getting control of the game but we were resolute at the back and did well to keep their chances to a minimum. It was a very uncomfortable watch but give our players and manager a lot of credit for seeing that out

It's so good to be able to grind out wins still, even when not at our best.

Often see the better teams do it, and so it's good to see this team add that to their repertoire too.

Really need to start to become more ruthless though.

We seem to become so much more casual the easier teams make things for us, which is really annoying.

Have to punish teams more when we're on top. Instead of allowing them to build confidence and come back into it.

It's an important point tbh. Even though we didn't click in the second half going forward, defensively it was an immense performance right across the back four. Botman struggled a bit early on, but still made some crucial stops when it mattered. They played almost 100 mins after their goal and didn't really manage to break us.

Sure, they feel that way. As they did in the loss at St. James', but they didn't hit the target for all their possession.

We had better chances and capitalized on their mistakes. We won the game.
