Absolutely anything can happen in a one off game. Nobody gave Wigan a hope in hell in the 2013 FA Cup final, and it's not like we're some plucky team at the bottom of the league.

 

Yes we've been pretty poor for a large chunk of the season, but we've got a talented team that can cause literally any team problems when we're on it. Despite our shortcomings, we're 6th top.

 

I'm hoping 2023 can help this time - it is less of a novelty for sure. I fancy us to keep it relatively tight in terms of the score, but my slightly pessimistic but realistic view is that the Liverpool fans will make the difference on the day. We all heard the racket they were making last year when a very young Liverpool side beat Chelsea in the same game. Really is massively important we can get behind the lads and make a wall of noise.

 

We can't be chasing the game from early doors, that's for sure. We need to score first or at least hold it to late second half. Going a goal down in the first half will probably mean it's a comfortable defeat on the day.

We've had a few sickening results this season (the most recent one taking the biscuit) but in the recent past we've seen some momentous games from these lads. If nothing else, we definitely break the duck here. We'll score. Then all we need to do is defend. 

 

I genuinely believe and I honestly can't wait. Don't dread it, lads, please. You deserve to look forward to it and you deserve to feel hopeful. We've endured an awful lot of shite so don't squander these special times with dread.

 

I don't know why anyone would be worried about fans who are going all the way to Wembey to support the lads. They'll do their part make no mistake.

 

It is the players who will need to throw off any inhibitions and turn up, something Newcastle teams haven't done in my lifetime. Yes being big underdogs should help, but really we just need to have a plan and execute it. Forget about the occasion and if it works great. If not, then not much anybody can do about it.

It won't be like any normal game though will it? It's a cup final with fans travelling a long way to see us play in it. I would imagine a lot of the normal season ticket holders who turn up and sit mute might not bother leaving some room for fans desperate to see us at Wembley.

that's what I thought last time. it was a truly eye opening and embarrassing experience.

 

I really hope it's different this time, I'll be there trying me bestest, hopefully not drowning in a sea of zombies again

i think i'm going to be a lot more aggressive and persistent if i get told to sit down or stop clapping/chanting.

also in a lower section so may help.

I think the team gives the fans energy. If they are confident and playing their game it will filter through to the fans. If they are flat and fearful, then the crowd will reflect it. I think that's the same for any fans tbh.

Honestly, I think we got a lot wrong on the day, I'm hoping this time Eddie will have the team well prepared and with a good gameplan which they can feel confident in executing. The rest will look after itself.

People need to save themselves for the game as well, too many imo will be out for too long before it.  Yes have a couple of drinks but need to keep your energy for the game.

 

Like that boxpark opening up at 8:30 FFS, you need your head checking if your going at that time.

The entry time slot were completely irrelevant last time.

 

Think they do it to try and reduce queuing / overcrowding, but they were in no way enforced.
