Christ.. The norwegian channel that I watched was showing ads through literally all of this. They showed like 1 minute of it after the whistle, and then constant ads until the trophy lifting. It pisses me off so much that they do it. Are these scenes somehow not important..?

@kloppette I don’t know a single fan that wanted us to be a sports washing vehicle, same as none of us wanted 14 years of being used as a sports advertising vehicle.

 

The difference is we are now seen as a threat. Nobody cared that Ashley ran the club to just about avoid relegation (messed up twice) and get 14 years of free advertising. Commercially he ruined us, publicly stated he wouldn’t invest in the club and yet the media largely said we should be grateful.

 

The fans just wanted Ashley out, the petitions were about that and the fact that Masters was simply procrastinating, quite possibly at the behest of other clubs. We wanted a decision, either way, the petition wasn’t to wave PIF in. Masters and his cronies ended up tying themselves in knots to such an extent that they had no option but to green light PIF. The speed it was eventually approved was almost comical.

 

Take PIF out of the equation and look at money spent by other clubs and consider the head room we started with because of Ashley’s lack of investment and in theory we could have ended up with the same manager and squad. We’ve complied with PSR and unless sponsorship deals open the floodgates we will not be allowed to threaten the status quo.

 

I get the argument that players have come because of the vision and money and why else would anyone come to play here. Then again, listen to the passion of Bruno, Joelinton, listen to Trippier, these players get it and it’s all about the football and the place.

 

If that qualifies as mental gymnastics then that’s me. 
 

I’ll stop as I’m waffling. Hopefully you’ll stick around and see what we’re really like. For the record, MBS is a horrific, bigoted, murderer. Our government happily do business with him and yet it’s the Newcastle fans that are expected to take a stand and walk away from their club or be labelled complicit and regularly far worse.

 This is doing me in, I think I’ve gotten over the emotion and then someone posts stuff like this and then the tears start again……I knew when (if 🤪) we won something I’d be emotional but I never thought it would be like this
