Yeah, because Liverpool were losing.

You know that is nonsense like, or otherwise they would have given handball against Trippier right ?

For those that has watched it back, does those 8 fucking minutes make any more sense? Thank fuck they didn't matter in the end, but that was fucking ridiculous

Probably, there was maybe a 30s VAR pause for Isak's disallowed goal. 30-60s for Isak's actual goal as pretty long celebrations. Joelinton/Isak injury a minute and a half at least, probably the same for Sandro when Bruno slid into him.

3 sub instances for Liverpool and 3 for us. Think you add 30s for each of those, plus Isak had gone down for a bit before he went off and Murphy was hobbling around like a limp chicken so maybe even longer for slow subs.

Plus bits added here and there for general timewasting.

Indeed...was surprised it wasn't 12

It almost was.  The clock was at 101:13 at full time.  Eight minutes originally indicated plus another 3 minutes 13 seconds for the VAR check and Sandro's shoelaces.

Fair enough for adding it all together, but in any normal game that doesn't get more than 3 or 4 minutes IMO. We would have been absolutely fucked if that went to extra time and all like with the team we had out there.

Today of all days, my brain threw out a reminder of this wonderful few paragraphs from the late Hunter S Thompson, which I have paraphrased slightly.

I feel we really are on the precipice of something big here.

"*Newcastle* in the middle *20s*was a very special time and place to be a part of. Maybe it meant something. Maybe not, in the long run . . . but no explanation, no mix of words or music or memories can touch that sense of knowing that you were there and alive in that corner of time and the world. Whatever it meant. . . .

There was madness in any direction, at any hour. If not across the Bay, then up the Golden Gate or down 101 to Los Altos or La Honda. . . . You could strike sparks anywhere. There was a fantastic universal sense that whatever we were doing was right, that we were winning. . . .

And that, I think, was the handle—that sense of inevitable victory over the forces of Old and Evil. Not in any mean or military sense; we didn’t need that. Our energy would simply prevail. There was no point in fighting—on our side or theirs. We had all the momentum; we were riding the crest of a high and beautiful wave. . ."

Love the mix of emotions on all the celebration videos like. Whatever happens I don’t think any (assuming there’s more) trophy win from here will be celebrated like this one was. Such a release of emotions in so many different ways for so many different people. Decades and decades of history condensed into one short moment.

I’m on one of my mates video taken as FT whistle goes and I’m just standing there shaking my head crying as people lose their shit around me. I don’t think I’ve ever been as outwardly emotional (in every single way) as I was yesterday. Was absolutely totally spent at FT.

What a day.

I may have just punted all my remaining Westjet Dollars on flights back next weekend. What's a 12 hour round trip for a once in a [lifetime/few years] opportunity?

So happy we got that second, not just for the cushion, but seeing the ball hit the net in front of us, the players celebrating with us - class.

I mean, Dan Burn, but Isak on the hoarding is pure iconic.

To go along with the others - but I don't think anyone was taking video at any point - our turn out in Seattle including Jon who is out here on a business trip from back home this week. Liverpool lot were decent folk and some stayed to talk, ManU fans two years ago cleared out at full time and didn't even bother staying for their ceremony.

What a day.

I chanced upon Adam Pearson's video of the win, and I was really happy for him and the other obsessed superfans of his ilk. Imagine how emotional it must've been for that lot.

They actually did sing YNWA? Oh that’s beautiful. Has a club ever been defined by hating another more than loving their own?

Anyone else still feel completely unmoored? It’s like everything I ever thought I knew has been proven as a lie. Newcastle United don’t win things.

Receiving likes on posts 50+ pages back two days after the game is a first I think. People still seemingly going through the entire match thread

I had yesterday off as holiday as I knew Sunday was going to be a heavy day out, but the hangover has stretched in to today so they can have some presenteeism from me until I feel fully functional, because I won’t be doing much.
