How is signing someone in their prime, with nearly 50 PL goals, loads of experience and an impeccable injury record a 'sticking plaster'? On paper it's an amazing upgrade on Wilson and seemingly at a good price, if it happens. We need players who are ready instantly.

If it goes through, I genuinely think people will be taken aback by his performances.

Man Utd just paid 70m for Mbeumo. We'd be wise not to fall into the same trap. In reality, I would picture Wissa being with us for two seasons max and then heading back to France. I know there's a growing narrative of us being total idiots (and there's some good evidence to back that up) but bar Trafford I don't see a lot of options to do things differently than we have done. 

Mbeumo and Wissa are two completely different deals. No point to compare them. The reason I brought up Forest was because I thought they bid 35m, wich was wrong. My bad.

I’m happy with us signing him. Especially if it’s 30-35m. Should allow us to go big in other positions. Good player. Just don’t want us to spend say 45m on him.

1-in-3 PL striker in his prime years for £30m is good business IMO, we'll get 2 or 3 good seasons out of him and then there'll be a way to recoup some cash albeit not selling at a huge profit after that.

 

He'd be such an upgrade on Wilson as the second striker choice it's not even funny.

It all depends on keeping Isak for me. If we keep him then someone like Wissa is a very good addition to the squad IMO. 
 

If we don’t keep Isak then nothing we do in the window really matters anyway since we’ll end up with less points and goals than last season guaranteed.

You could almost forget we won a major trophy and qualified for the Champion's League last season with a first team largely consisting of international players for the likes of England & Brazil. We're operating like some bottom half fodder. I'm miffed tbh, I really thought we would go big this summer.

With that said, Wissa joining Elanga would represent a significantly strengthened frontline. I just can't pretend to not be both somewhat underwhelmed and also just confused as to what's gone on and how things are seemingly so difficult for us though. If we get this done, I want to see us go big and bring in some genuine quality to be really excited about at CM and CB, whilst conclusively resolving the Isak situation.

Exactly, plus there's also the possibility that our bid was structured much for favourably than Forest's.

Wissa is not just a squad player though, he's a genuine like for like alternative for Isak.

At least we have something to talk about now that is slightly more positive (for now ). Has to happen fast, we need this breakthrough again. Not too worried about us finding it easier to get a quality CM and CB in.

To play across their front three positions, I don't see why they'd need Wissa. You can potentially add MGW to that as well.
