They won’t have any now. This is why I think Isak stays. Not only did they exhaust their Wilson list. They now know in advance they’ve no one to bed in if they decided to sell Isak in 12 months. They had a plan for two strikers LONG term but not both in this window. Sesko was never really part of the plan this window but as soon as he was and we missed out we were done trying to get 2 in.

 

The plan B you seek now might be attacking midfielders and try and get more goals from midfield and create more chances for a less potent forward (Osula + Gordon) until Isak is reinstated.

All those ones you've named are the ones to avoid. Overpaid and with bad attitudes.

 

Hojland might do OK if he can go somewhere where there's less expectation and he can regain some confidence. He's worth a fraction of what Man Utd paid for him though

 

The likes of Mainoo and Amad should do well elsewhere. Even Antony did well on loan at Betis

It seems like we're doing a Liverpool here, except we're in a more desperate position than they are. 

 

You don't want to be held to ransom by clubs, but at some point you're going to have to actually pay what they want if you want to land a player. £50m-60m sounds a lot for a 28 year old, but isn't exactly completely unreasonable for a striker who scored 19 premier league goals last season and is the only capable striker in Brentford's squad, especially in the position we're in where a proven striker could be the difference between midtable and top 6. If he scores 19 goals again this season it's almost certainly money well spent.

There’s something quite appealing about picking up a player from the septic six (a  Jackson or a Højlund) and turning them into a master of their trade/position. Rather have a ready made one obvs!

I'd be buzzing with Jackson in before Liverpool like, crazy I'm saying that in 2025.

 

Regarding Ramos, what do people not like about him? I haven't seen loads of him like, but I've got visions of him being an Aguero for us, he looks alright in possession around the box and has the potential to be a pretty lethal poacher.

Yes, I could see this being the case.

 

However, in the meantime I could see us signing another striker, like we were on our way to doing with Sesko.

 

The Isak move will then be directly tied to what happens with Wissa.

 

We will not go into the season without a striker that isn't already comfortable scoring goals in the Prem, and it looks like it will either be Isak or Wissa.

Always thought the amount which was discussed, and apparently we thought we were going to pay for him, seemed low. It comes across in the discussion of who he 'replaces' as well, as weird as that is. A 19 goal striker is not replacing Callum Wilson

Ramos seems the only stand out option at the minute, longer this goes on Isak will probably benstaying
