Even if he wasn't very good(looks like he is thankfully) he would still have had some sell on value. Plus the potential reward part of the gamble was much higher with Woltemade. They would have to win that four team play-off, to get to the inter-confederation play-off in Mexico (March 2026), which is six teams in two brackets of three. Each bracket winner qualifies. Isak is a prick, and he's not much better. I was surprised we paid that much but at the time I was happy we did because I was convinced he'd score the goals we lost with Isak. It was a calculated gamble on him being a crucial part of our success this season. Like I said, I don't think an experienced DOF would have signed off on it, but as a fan I was happy we did.
