Makes no sense rushing him back for that when we have a two-week international break straight after. We’re doing well with Big Wolte and Big Willie. If there’s any chance we keep him away from Internationals/ACON the better (if possible?).
54
Craig Hope loves any sort of negativity doesn't he I'm paraphrasing, but Howe basically just said that he can't commit to any definitive time frame beyond him not being available this weekend, as he is having to build up his fitness, so its a bit wooly as to when he hits the markers that proof he's match fit. Thats basically it. Well that, and that Wissa has been great in the dressing room and seems a natural leader in the group.
ToonAbroad
Even if he was ready to feature at Brentford it makes no sense to do so because then there's more argument that he goes away on international duty. Having him here for two weeks training will be way more beneficial, so don't expect to see him till after that break now.
bobbydazzla
With a Wissa bit of luck, his sore knee is now alright, Holler with the rinsin' sound. Holler with the rinsin' sound. Holler with the rinsin' sound, Holler with the mixin' sound. Holler with the rinsin' sound.
frankpingel
Was interesting to hear that he's a natural leader, hadn't been aware of that being part of his personality.
Fenham Mag
Very coy from Eddie, he is desperate for him not to go to Africa for the international break.
Geordie_once_removed
I'm sure this nothing to worry about, just a mixture of our new (Bunce led?) cautious approach to bring players back from injury and desires to make sure that him not going away on International duty in November can be justified. Which I think is fair when you had a new player who wasn't fully fit go away on International duty, play two full games and get injured for 3 months, you have a right to ensure that essentially the exact same thing doesn't happen again. I bet the first time we see him is Man City at home. Equally should DRC qualify for Afcon I'm sure he'll go. I can't see the club trying to get him out of it. We need to accept and support that. I think it's absolutely this. 2 weeks of full training during the international break is a lot more valuable than 15 mins against Brentford followed by two weeks away with the DR Congo national team. bobbydazzla
I think FIFA stop paying his wages when he resumes full training, so let's keep him on light training until after the international break to save some lowey PSR uber alles
SAK
We should ensure he’s fully recovered before involving him, a short cameo will result in a national call up and that’s no good for him being run into the ground so soon after a major injury. Once recovered no issues with him representing his country or going to the AFCON (everyone signs African players in the knowledge there’s a mid season tournament). Doctor Zaius
I seen on a recent clip he still had a compressor on his knee like. I think he's a while off like.
Anderson
Imagine the international break will give them a chance to get a couple behind closed doors kick abouts arranged for him to take part in too. With Nick hitting the ground running, and Osula proving to be a capable option too, no need to rush him back. Got another hectic period coming up with games every mid-week through to the AFCON and beyond, so no sense in pushing him out until he's completely ready. Whitley mag
Be crazy at this point if he went to the AFCON and proceeded to play on shite pitches. Very sensible by the club to play down his fitness and availability at this stage.

We’ve got another seven matches between that break and the AFCON, so he’ll be playing in them.

Also, there’s the chance Brentford just kick the shit out of him, like we’d expect Joelinton to Isak. No need to risk. With Wolte likely playing loads up to and during international break, Wissa in a position to start first 55 at home to Man City to ease load of Wolte should be what we’re aiming for internally. If we play him against Brenford and he declines the the international call-up, then Congo will be able to trigger the rule that means he can't play against Man City. You’d like to think there would be some communication and common sense all round before it got to that stage. Especially if it only ended up being 15/20 mins against Brentford. Having said that, those games in November are genuinely massive for DR Congo, so you can hardly blame them if they were playing hardball.
