I think this deal is one we have to find a way to get done.

It will strengthen our hand in all of the shenanigans with both Isak and Liverpool.

If Liverpool keep refusing to put a significantly bigger offer down, which I would raise to £175 million as soon as a Wissa deal gets done, and Isak decides to keep sulking, then he will be going nowhere.

Wissa can then come in and start games until Isak figures out a way to get over it.

The whole not meeting other club's valuations thing is getting seriously fucking tiresome. We're in Goofy fuckin doin it again territory now.

We are doing it by the book. This is what it looks like.

Don't most clubs do this though. Unless they're City/Chelsea or there's a release clause.

Yes, sure, but someone will still have to pay big. Liverpool seem to think they can get some kind of sweet deal.

It's farcical how on the one hand we're steadfast in our stance that Isak is not for sale for anything less that record shattering money way above what Liverpool can afford, meanwhile we're umming and ahhing about upping our offer for Wissa by relative pocket change.

It’s what everyone (near enough) does though.

Man Utd (who ironically have just been paying whatever teams wanted in the past) were refusing to go over a certain amount for Mbeumo, yet simultaneously saying their bomb squad all had valuations that had to be matched.

It’s just the way it is.

Most clubs don't keep failing at it and putting themselves in more and more perilous positions as a direct result I would imagine.

Agreed. We're in a strong position regarding situation if we get 1/2 forward players in

IF Isak is here next season and sulky, then he has time to sort himself out, and get into good form to put himself on the market next summer

They immediately stumped up when there was the threat that our pursuit of Wissa might scupper their Mbeumo deal.

Fair enough, I take the point but I'm weary that prevaricating over a few million in June/July and not getting players in early leaves us vulnerable to getting ripped off when we start getting desperate by the time deadline day approaches. Either that or we leave poisitions unaddressed and try again in future windows by the point targets have moved on and/or inflation puts players beyond our reach

Which players would you consider in a P/E?

I assume there's only Elliot and Nunez to consider?

I don't want Nunez but I'd have Elliot.

None. Selling him to Liverpool is absolutely unacceptable in any scenario.

None tbh, part exchange is bad for FFP. Need as much bookable profit as possible on the accounts so we have the freedom to go and buy who we actually want from elsewhere
