We've been in this situation before so I'm not getting any hopes up just yet. It is forcing the issue though and it's a genuine and serious bid for a quality player who should get even better as he comes into his prime. Got absolutely no problem with how we've done things here, we're being proactive and it sends out the right message too

Like others, I was seriously disappointed by him in the Euros but when Shearer was on comms he seemed to really rate him despite that. Now if anyone knows a proper striker when he sees one, it’s Big Al.

Off the back of the last 2 weeks of doom and gloom it's a massive shot in the arm too, everything crossed for this one as I think it serves as a turning point in what has been a tumultuous summer.

one man army in the euros or world cups often feels like it goes down to the player just playing out of his skin. I recall Patrick Schick having a tourney some years back and he just sort of plodded along in his career.

I’m not convinced at all by what I’ve seen of Sesko, but the one thing that makes me excited by it is Eddie Howe. If there’s a player there then Eddie will get everything out of him.

So here's what I think is happening.

 

Newcastle know that Man United can't match our price, unless they have to change their entire transfer plans (no goalkeeper, no CB, no CM).

 

Sesko undoubtedly would prefer Man Utd but hes also interested in us. Hes given us all the indication that hes prepared to join.

 

In order to force the issue, weve made a formal bid, which is basically putting pressure on Seskos camp to make the move.

 

Its entirely down to this, what do MU do? Go all in and prioritise a striker? Or pull out and stick their plan?

 

I suspect Hoijlund wanting to stay has fucked them.
