Could be mistaken, but we won't have a PSR issue next summer if we got Sesko and Guehi. Not sure that we'd need to offload before the PSR deadline.

A very simple calculation is to divide the cost by 4/5 (the contract length). So say we sign Elanga and Sesko, 150m pounds spent, this means it would give us a further burden of around 30m per year for the next five years (ignore the salaries first).

for 2025 it’s not a problem because we have overcome the amortized cost previous incurred in earlier years and we have the ECL money. We don’t need to sell Isak for 2025. Pretty sure about this.

however for 2026 or 2027 if we missed out on any Europe competition then we do need to sell Isak or one of the purple patches to cover it.

I mean, if I’m wrong and we keep Isak and sign Sesko we are heading for a title challenge. I just can’t see it

We can sell Isak next summer.

There will definitely be scope to keep both Isak and Sesko if Liverpool don't pay a fee the club deems worthwhile.

The Ramsdale deal saved us a significant amount from what we had set aside for a goalie.

And then I imagine we will have also have other affordable options at centre back and central midfield that we can go for if Isak isn't sold.

Not beyond the realms of possibility at all.

Our likely incompetence and bad luck in missing out on Trafford may have saved us quite a bit.

Ramsdale seems a lovely lad as well. Silver linings and all that.....

Ok cool. If we don't need to sell him this summer though, then we absolutely shouldn't if it's for 150 or less.

But ending up with a hugely inferior goalkeeper

If we truly want to be No 1 we have to believe.

exactly. Just do it next summer. A lot more interested parties, with a whole year of preparation of funding.

I’m sure someone said it didn’t not in the short term anyway as if we signed Trafford it would have been about £5m per year of his contract and Ramsdale in the loan fee gets paid up front

We probably don't consider Sesko and look elsewhere if the Trafford deal goes through.

There's always so many moving parts.

The savings there probably allowed us to push the boat out for a player the club clearly believe has a whole lot of promise in Sesko.

Not really. The loan fee will be a cost this season.

The amortisation of buying Trafford would just be 1 or 2m above that.

it would be a hell of a statement to Isak too. Look at the potentially world class fucker we've brought in. And we ain't selling you this year. So it's up to you to perform.

I'm going to need some evidence Ramsdale is inferior to Trafford.

he probably is given the age difference and all, but we want to raise our floor as much as our ceiling. Ramsdale will put a lot of pressure on Pope to perform.

Sesko is no way worth this amount of money.

Ekitike scored 15 off 23 (!!!!) xG in the only season he's scored lots of goals. Joao Pedro scored five, yes five, goals from open play. That's a Shola number.

We paid a lot for Elanga but he's fast as feck and got lots of assists through peachy crosses.

Was thinking exactly this. What a statement to the whole squad, Bruno, Tonali, Isak....everyone.

We aren't here to bow to anyone. This might explain Howe's bullish statements that Isak has to earn the right to train with the squad.

Trafford as things stand is a Championship goalie with a lot of potential.

I'm very hesitant to crown him the better goalie considering how things went with Burnley in the Prem last time around.

Ramsdale is significantly more accomplished in reality.

the fact Man City just bought Trafford is all the evidence you need

Aye but Trafford is as much a future buy as Sesko. You're buying an appreciating asset.

Plus, Ramsdale has an option to buy so we can just fob it off with no further financial ramifications if we so wish.
