They let him go as well a couple of years ago. It shows lack of character on Trafford's part IMO, whereas Ramsdale bombing up north at the drop of a hat to sign for Newcastle shows massive character and an iron will.

I haven't seen enough of the player - nor do I understand where the market is (inflation-wise) - to know if this is a gross overspend. However, I honestly don't think we operate like that; we don't behave extravagantly in the transfer market at all because of PSR. There's plenty of evidence for that just the summer. We're not frugal but we've defined our limits and stuck to them.

 

I'd wager that we rate the player extremely highly and are offering this amount with confidence that we'll be getting value. As far as I can see, we were always gonna go big on a striker this summer, before we had any clue that Isak was gonna twerk at Liverpool.

tbf Trafford is going to be 23 in October - Ramsdale has just gone 27 - not a massive age difference.

For anyone talking PSR, Celtic made 40M last year in the CL. Leipzig made 50M.

Villa's coefficient should be as low as ours (if it still matters) and they still made 70M.

Under Eddie, we've been a really good cup team, even without easy draws, so I'd expect us to get quite far.

I think we need someone to push Pope right now personally.

 

I was never as confident as others Trafford would actually do that.

you may well be right, and there is an absolutely massive chance that you are, but the absolute confidence isn't well founded or well deserved at all. It's uncertain as hell.

Feels like around a week ago folk were whinging we were showing no movement and not enough willingness to make the signings we want/wanted and we weren't doing enough to demonstrate our strength or position on Isak. We've since had the owners and the manager basically stick it to Liverpool and Isak and have lumped a massive wedge on a potential new number 9 and now it's "Ah he's not worth that" and all sorts of other negativity.

 

We may have a better 1st (or 2nd) keeper. A better 1st (or 2nd) right winger and we certainly have a better 2nd striker if we sign Sesko. So we've strengthened in 3 areas as it would stand signing Sesko.

i disagree I’ve never been surer than anything. Earlier today it’s reported we are planning a new bid for Wissa. If the plan is Sesko & Isak, why?

If there is actually a new bid for Wissa, then that is  obviously the safe bet. But as of this point, there hasn't been.

Sesko to bed in for when Isak leaves next summer. Wissa in as Wilson’s replacement as a possibility.

Villas Coefficient is actually 42.25 ours is 8.0! - our position is currently ranked using the national value for England at 18.167 as ours is so low,.

It's almost as though some people's default setting is to always find something to whine and complain about!
