I will not be really upset if he goes to Man Utd. They have tendency to waste talents anyways... I don't mind keeping ISAK. I know some of our fans start despising him but I still believe he can give us one more good year.

So we're back to just assuming our decision-makers are idiots who are clueless in terms of identifying attainable targets. 

 

Of course in reality, they're not idiots. They know what they're doing but are fighting an uphill battle in the context of PSR and its varied impact depending on which club you are.

 

Chasing extremely talented players whose true, un-inflated, values we can match delivered us the likes of Isak and Tonali. It's not like those players won't have been coveted.

There’s no point. He wants to play for Man Utd and get higher wages. The player is just helping Leipzig get the price they wanted thereabouts. They’ve succeeded in getting more than they wanted a week ago so job done. Why make ourselves look desperate. We have Isak.

Every single player we have attempted to sign this window is attainable and would have happily joined. Just because they have ended up elsewhere doesn't mean they wouldn't have signed for us. Going after top players runs the risk of this happening but if we didn't go after top players in the first place we never would have signed Bruno, Tonali or Isak.

It is, though. It's because of PSR we can't spend the money to make us a more attractive proposition. If we're able to spend what we can then more would choose us the same way the did with Chelsea & City before us.

Fair dos - I think the strategic approach has been poor so far, and the season starts next week.  Howe said he wanted new players in fast at the end of last season - there’s a lot of points to play for before the window closes.  Time yet, but so far it’s been pretty shite.

It's not happened once or twice as is too be expected, it's happened to a half dozen. We are then wasting huge amount of time chasing moving goal posts. I'm sorry this is happening too much to be just bad luck.

it’s just gone against us a lot this window, in the case of Delap and co I think wages def played into it. I also some neither Delap or JP felt they were gonna get ton of minutes ahead of Isak. Where’s I can see see Chelsea lieing thru their teeth about playing time 😂

As much as I hate to agree with him, but Froggy is right on this one...we have probably agreed to pay the same amount of wages as them hence why he has verbally given the thumps up to both of us. He may 'prefer' Man Utd but that doesn't mean he isn't more than happy to come here if we get a bid accepted and they don't. 

 

Do you think Tonali or Isak would have come to us in the first place if Man Utd, Liverpool or Chelsea also bid? Doesn't stop them from joining and becoming integral parts in our development.
