There's been a lot of updates the last hour, but is there anything to suggest which way it's leaning?

On the one hand we've offered Leipzig more cash and more up front. On the other you'd think his relationship with Vivell will be beneficial to Man United.

Can we not look at recruitment of Leipzig? likes of Szoboszlai, Gvardiol, Nkunku, Olmo, Sesko, I dont think any of them cost them more than 30m pounds. then they flip them in 2-3 seasons for 2-2.5x price.

of course they cannot build on them imagine if they managed to keep all these and slowly add to them, would be easily a side ready to go head to head with Bayern each year.

wouldnt mind one transfer each summer of this profile younger, high potential transfers, max 30m fee, at worst they can become important squad players, at best potential is regular starter.

we kind of did this with Hall and Livramento, timing need to be good at these deals.

Downie saying Sesko is leaning towards Man Utd.

Officially no and obviously mixed reports. Reports from Slovenia was he chose us, other reports saying Manchester United would only bid if he picked them.

Pessism on here is obviously based upon the way this summer has gone so far

As a club, nothing. But the overall feeling is another one of the big 6 has swooped in again. Once or twice is unfortunate but every target smacks of something far more insidious going on.

Just isn’t even enjoyable anymore.

Chelsea - Pedro, Delap

Man City - Trafford

Liverpool - Ekitke

Man U - Mbuemo, Cunha, Sesko?

Have I missed any?

Obviously with Liverpool swooping in for Isak as well.

Think people need to adjust their context to current situation. Is it loads better than Ashley days, absolutely.

But in current landscape, when competing with these sides, is this window and our continually strike outs embarrassing and borderline negligence,  yes. We don’t always have to compare to Ashley days to make things better, we’ve clearly moved on from that era and in current one we’re striking well below what we’ve been doing before and that should be rightly called out for what it is.

5th August. We have Elanga and a goalkeeper on loan.

That's what we have done up to now really, almost all of our signings have been undervalued and doubled in value since they joined us.

Right now it's difficult because we're trying to break the top 1-3 rather than the top 4-5.

Reports were Manu would only of bid IF Sesko properly indicated he preferred them, they must be confident of that if they have bid LESS than us. Think this one's dead, would like to be proven wrong tho

But if he's agreed deals with both clubs, why would Leipzig pick the smaller bid?

Because he wants to join them over us and they (Man Utd) know it.

Reading across the boards

Man Utd fans - noooo we don’t want him why it’s too fucking expensive and unproven, please no

Liv cunts - noooo fuck it Isak won’t be allowed to go then, fuck off Man Utd

Us - noooo another one missed, why always us, fuck the cartels

Just fucking insane

It isn't just bad luck but I would rather we targeted top players who could have brought us on a few levels then settle for somebody that we are not sure on. We have got to where we are by having a list of targets that we are certain on and we haven't missed once in the transfer market with the Saudi's once. I don't want them to change there approach as shit and annoying as this window has been.

I guess i'd mind less if we could you know work on a few bids in parallel. If we were bidding for this guy and a few other bids in for other options instead fine, it's not so big a deal that Leipzig are slow rolling it. But instead us continually chasing targets that aren't interested has clearly prevented us in thickening out the squad. We are looking at going into a season potentially without our best player either through sale or having a sulk, with the same midfield minus Longstaff when we have Europe to compete in and no massive upgrades.

I want us to be ambitious, but that should be building a squad to compete, spending all our time and effort on a few players. If we only have capacity to go after one player at a time, we absolutely can't be spending weeks and weeks on one target, if the bid isn't sufficient or the player indecisive, then sorry, we have to move on. It should be a privilege to play for Newcastle United in the Champions league. We just look like Kirk Van Outen asking his ex to marry him again.

That's what I don't get and don't think any of the Journos know, feel like if he only wanted to join them then they might accept their slightly lower bid incase he refuses to join us and they don't get any big fee at all. Either way we probably find out tonight what's happening
