Correct. The key is finding out where you stand ASAP so you can move on with time spare which we have along with Isak on this occasion.

Of course in reality, they're not idiots. They know what they're doing but are fighting an uphill battle in the context of PSR and its varied impact depending on which club you are.

 

Chasing extremely talented players whose true, un-inflated, values we can match delivered us the likes of Isak and Tonali. It's not like those players won't have been coveted. 

I'm not calling them idiots, overly ambitious yes, misread the market yes? Idiots no I don't think so. 

 

This isn't the first rodeo for us this summer going head to head with them, and so far it hasn't worked out in our favour. 

 

We had a free run at both Isak and Tonali, that was actually top notch recruitment hence me not calling them idiots.

As a club, nothing. But the overall feeling is another one of the big 6 has swooped in again. Once or twice is unfortunate but every target smacks of something far more insidious going on.

It isn't just bad luck but I would rather we targeted top players who could have brought us on a few levels then settle for somebody that we are not sure on. We have got to where we are by having a list of targets that we are certain on and we haven't missed once in the transfer market with the Saudi's once. I don't want them to change there approach as shit and annoying as this window has been.

The worrying thing is it’ll take another 3-4 days to actually move to another target. So fed up with it

I don't think they could've done more. They just need to move on to the next person on the list. If we can't get someone like Ramos from PSG then we'll just have to plan for Isak staying. Which is less than ideal.

A byproduct of the club's success is that we've shown ourselves to be very good talent spotters. I firmly believe that's why several clubs have gazumped us to players this season. Either you believe they snuck in after the fact, or we also happen to be on the trail of some brilliant talent. Either way it shows how well we're doing. 

 

It hasn't felt more pronounced than with Sesko. Man Utd had all summer to move for him. As soon as Newcastle start sniffing Man Utd are on the scene. We talk a lot about the evolution of the club and a path forward, but this for me is the hardest obstacle. We're going to miss out on good players that would do a lot here because of money and other trappings. That will change in time, I hope, but it's going to be frustrating. This whole project is building up a football club in a way no Premier League team has had to in modern times.

Sounds like he has 'chosen' both of us, so that report was probably not wrong. Just sounds like if all things are equal he would prefer Man Utd. At the moment things aren't equal so it depends how much he prefers Man Utd as to whether he now puts pressure on RB Liepzig.

I would've taken either as a replacement for Wilson, obviously they aren't the answer as a replacement for Isak.
