Would be a canny deal for Man United. Getting rid of a player they don't want for someone they do. Would probably allow them a run at Sesko too.

Don’t think they’ll have Hoijlund, Jackson and Sesko.

Surely getting Jackson would be the end of them getting Sesko?

From Romano's video in the early hours:

If Sesko wants to go to Newcastle, Newcastle don't even need to negotiate with Leipzig because they know the conditions of the deal and are ready to go and pay what Leipzig wants, and what Sesko wants. This still depends on the player because Manure are working on the deal and are ready to speak to Leipzig. Sesko is going to take his time, it's not imminent in terms of hours. It's probably going to take some days.(paraphrased)

Cheers @Bunk Moreland, helpful summary spares us having to engage with the Fusilli fiddling fuckwit.

He & the players agent are clearly desperate for this to turn into a saga/war between us and Man U. You can tell by just how little Romano is talking about the Man U/Watkins link. When most other journos seem to be suggesting it's Watkins that's emerging as their first choice.

Did Seskos agent write the script or something?

Nothing about this seems particularly likely right now.

Watching his highlights last night I can see why that one on Twitter was sped up like.

Not my type of striker in the way Isak is, so wouldn't care if it falls through, but it is what it is.

We need him or Samu tbh, isak is a unicorn in terms of ability so we will have to change how we play.

That's how I read it. Should open the path to Sesko for us assuming the prick even wants to come here.

We aren’t getting anyone like Isak tho. Thats why he’s a £150m player. Sesko was linked to us before he went to Leipzig and I recall a lot of excitement at the links. Ideally we get him and keep Isak I know that’s very unlikely but wouldn’t half save this window

So for this to happen is it fair to say we need clarity on Isak and hope Man United look elsewhere in the meantime?

Isaks going might not be this summer but he's obviously gone. Might as well get a replacement this summer.

If what Romano is saying is true, the it suggests Sesko isn’t that keen on us.

He seems more keen on Man U, but then Isak seems more keen on Liverpool. These legacy clubs hold a lot of pull for foreign players especially.

we can offer him CL football this season and have had a much better team for the last 2 years or so

but MU can easily offer him more money if they want

can see why the agent is holding out for them

100%

I always assumed he'd be gone this summer if we missed out on CL or next summer regardless, so obviously I was wrong on the details but I've always assumed that post-takeover Newcastle United 2.0 would involve selling one or two "purples" and using that money to add five or six players to the squad - in Isak's case that would be Sesko & Wissa for example.

Post-takeover Newcastle United 1.0 is/was a quality starting XI but insufficient depth to maintain a European campaign, hopefully we're now moving on to the next stage.
