GeordieDazzler
Without being to precious about it the initial hook is always going to be money. Man United’s name will always have cache. We just need to get him in the door and then he can be convinced of the project after. Isak leaving isn’t nice but he’s trying to leave to join a team that is going to compete for all the marbles. We aren’t that club yet. I doubt he’s got any bad words about Howe and how he’s been coached here. All that is happening now is an attempt to smoke out further options, if none arise we’ll probably get him.

Post-takeover Newcastle United 1.0 is/was a quality starting XI but insufficient depth to maintain a European campaign, hopefully we're now moving on to the next stage. Unless we finish second, win another cup and get to the champions league final. He’d stay then.

This still depends on the player because Manure are working on the deal and are ready to speak to Leipzig. Sesko is going to take his time, it's not imminent in terms of hours. It's probably going to take some days.(paraphrased) Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aprVVzOtiCM Here Edited July 30, 2025 by gdm
Jack0
That doesn't say anywhere that he's not keen on us. He's heard our proposal, Man Utd are about to make one and he wants to hear both before making a decision. Then he'll review both and make his decision in his own time. And why shouldn't he? sushimonster85
Aye, at the moment it seems like he/his agent are waiting till they have a clear idea of both offers before deciding. I do think Man U pursuing Watkins may eventually hurt them with Sesko though.

Sesko was linked to us before he went to Leipzig and I recall a lot of excitement at the links. Ideally we get him and keep Isak I know that’s very unlikely but wouldn’t half save this window Ekitike was like. I'm thinking more style than level, I wouldn't expect a like-for-like Isak replacement, more just saying what type of striker I prefer really. We'll see, hoping that the club finds its backbone in all this.

Mind, he hadn’t made up an injury at that point

Why should we weaken our team to suit other teams agendas when we have him under 3 years contract still? Every other fucker is looking after their own interests, we should be looking after ours. J7
Players will prefer Man Utd and Liverpool. We need to suck it up while we continue to grow and become more and more attractive ourselves. If a promising player is happy to come here, regardless of who they ultimately prefer, so be it. ‘Poor us’ isn’t going to cut it.
