Without being to precious about it the initial hook is always going to be money. Man United’s name will always have cache. We just need to get him in the door and then he can be convinced of the project after.

Isak leaving isn’t nice but he’s trying to leave to join a team that is going to compete for all the marbles. We aren’t that club yet. I doubt he’s got any bad words about Howe and how he’s been coached here.

All that is happening now is an attempt to smoke out further options, if none arise we’ll probably get him.

I always assumed he'd be gone this summer if we missed out on CL or next summer regardless, so obviously I was wrong on the details but I've always assumed that post-takeover Newcastle United 2.0 would involve selling one or two "purples" and using that money to add five or six players to the squad - in Isak's case that would be Sesko & Wissa for example.

Post-takeover Newcastle United 1.0 is/was a quality starting XI but insufficient depth to maintain a European campaign, hopefully we're now moving on to the next stage.

Unless we finish second, win another cup and get to the champions league final. He’d stay then.

From Romano's video in the early hours:

If Sesko wants to go to Newcastle, Newcastle don't even need to negotiate with Leipzig because they know the conditions of the deal and are ready to go and pay what Leipzig wants, and what Sesko wants. This still depends on the player because Manure are working on the deal and are ready to speak to Leipzig. Sesko is going to take his time, it's not imminent in terms of hours. It's probably going to take some days.(paraphrased)

That doesn't say anywhere that he's not keen on us. He's heard our proposal, Man Utd are about to make one and he wants to hear both before making a decision. Then he'll review both and make his decision in his own time. And why shouldn't he?

We aren’t getting anyone like Isak tho. Thats why he’s a £150m player. Sesko was linked to us before he went to Leipzig and I recall a lot of excitement at the links. Ideally we get him and keep Isak I know that’s very unlikely but wouldn’t half save this window

Ekitike was like. I'm thinking more style than level, I wouldn't expect a like-for-like Isak replacement, more just saying what type of striker I prefer really. We'll see, hoping that the club finds its backbone in all this.

Ekitike would have been the ideal replacement. Just don’t understand why we backed off if the intention is to sell Isak. Mind, he hadn’t made up an injury at that point

Could be. This one has just had an unlikely feel from start to finish.

It only makes sense if there's still no intention to sell Isak.

That’s what I mean I think there was no intention to sell him and he’s throw his toys out the pram resulting in him being sent home from Glasgow and a not going on the tour

If we can't get the cunt then Isak shouldn't be going anywhere. Striker market stinks.

This. Why should we weaken our team to suit other teams agendas when we have him under 3 years contract still? Every other fucker is looking after their own interests, we should be looking after ours.

Aye that would look really flaky on our part.

Yeah but it’s the only thing that made sense. We look utterly weak over the Ekitike deal and we’ll look almost cuck like if we sell them Isak

Players will prefer Man Utd and Liverpool. We need to suck it up while we continue to grow and become more and more attractive ourselves. If a promising player is happy to come here, regardless of who they ultimately prefer, so be it. ‘Poor us’ isn’t going to cut it.

Man Utd aren’t in a position to make one though, he and the us may be waiting a while for a decision.
