Not happy, but hes looking like a player who suits our style with his pace, power and athleticism.

I can't think of anyone else we could go for that would be whelming at this stage.

Best of an uninspiring bunch. Not sure what you are expecting really?

I don't know why so many are so negative on this lad tbh, 39 goals in two seasons at 22 seems pretty good to me :dontknow:

Granted there's a lot more to it than goals he scores but on the face of it he seems good.

Why do you lads listen to Romano when he says who Sesko would prefer to go to, but whenever he suggests that Newcastle are prepared to match the financials you act like it's total rubbish.

This is the problem lads.

Last 4 transfer windows (including this one) are all the evidence we need that he's bullshitting when he says this kind of stuff.

Agreed. Replacing Isak with him and Wissa with money to spare is good business and also quite exciting in some ways.

Paraphrasing Freddie Shepherd: There's no point in having a Ferrari if it runs out of fuel after 60 minutes and your backup vehicle is a pogo stick.

He has low shot volume and doesn’t appear to be great at anything apart from heading. The shot volume in Germany with their fast transitions is a bad sign. There’s a reason nobody else has picked him up. Maybe he gets better. Idk.

He's 22 and still developing, clearly we see something in him and if anyone is going to bring him on it's Howe.

Isak only have average 0.94 shots per game more than him. Isak only had 31 shots more than Sesko over the entire season.

That’s a lot and he’s in a much harder to league to do it. Isak also great at bunch of other stuff.

Sesko might end up developing but we are going to overpay by quite a lot if we do this now.

I'm not hugely excited about the prospect of signing Sesko due to the admittedly outrageously tiny sample size from the Euros where I wasn't convinced by him. Do get that leading the line for Slovenia wouldn't exhibit the best of him but also generally sceptical about signing attackers from the Fraudesliga Bundesliga, in recent years they haven't translated well here.

However, the unknown is always exciting in a way and he's the same age Isak was when we signed him, bearing in mind Isak also had a on-the-face-of-it poor goal scoring return the season before he signed for us and only one eye catching season at first team level in a decent league in 2020-21.

Still don't see it happening due to the sheer level of pessimism this window has spawned. All this talk about 'admiring' the player and 'trying to agree personal terms' and 'preparing bids'. That nothing concrete has happened yet...well, we know how it ends.

If we're going to replace Isak, which is looking lncredibly likely, there's no way to do that without spending this sort of money.

It’s not really a lot and it also depends on a lot of factors. im not sure what you are expecting in a Isak replacement. Its him, Jackson or Watkins

Not expecting anything that remotely matches Isak, which is why it shouldn't be happening.

I don’t see Sesko working in a 433 - he’s more suited to a 4231 imo - a 10 (a bit like the one at West Ham) is imperative imo - take the load off Sesko in terms of goals and let him develop under Howe - Wissa is a very good backup too

The most ideal way to do this would be bring Sesko in, keep Isak for another year. Let Isak cook to get his big move to Real Madrid (not Liverpool under any circumstances), then have Sesko up and running already for the season after. By ideal I mean a world where Isak is determined to leave. In an actual ideal world he retires here.

Isak level finishing is pretty rare. There's a reason why Arsenal and now Liverpool have lusted after him. His shooting is outrageously good.

One thing we know is that he’ll get plenty of chances. Let’s hope he starts banging them in if he comes to the Toon.

As mentioned previously we don’t know how Ekitike, Gykores or Sesko will adapt to the PL. Hopefully the former two struggle and Sesko becomes our new prolific number 9.
