In the minority, but I think it’s a decent move. He was good for Arsenal at first and he is way better than Dubravka. If he proves not to be as good as Pope we can get rid but I think he might play if Eddie really wants a keeper better with his feet.

Really going to try hold off my opinion until I see the window as a whole, like I say this fills a spot while redirecting nearly £30m to be used elsewhere. Maybe that’ll go towards Sesko or Guehi. I’ll wait and see

Count me in the minority too.

Eddie bangs on about only signing players that will improve us.

This lad might have a slight advantage with his tootsies but he's nowhere near pope on the main aspects of a keeper.

But he’s much better than Dubravka, so therefore improves us in squad terms.

Same outfield 10 plus:

Pope starts, Dubs bench

Pope starts, Ramsdale bench

Ramsdale starts, Pope bench

Ramsdale starts, Dubs bench?

Pick your poison but I don't see much difference to the team on the park at all there tbh. Probably option 2 or 3 if I was pushed but I it's negligible imo

Trafford was never coming in to start ahead of Pope anyway. He was a long term target and weve clearly shelved the idea of signing a long term young keeper, for a short term solution.

I really like Ramsdale the person, by all accounts hes well liked in footy, and I dont think hes the naive kid he was at Arsenal. Hes got battle scars now. If anyone can get Ramsdale to his absolute best, its Howe.

Hes not the long term solution to our goalkeeper spot but we dont actually have problem at GK. If Trafford signs we will have 2 really solid keepers.

Once weve actually got our recruitment act together, we can look for another goalkeeper for the long term.

Folk laughed at Matz Sels to Forest. Not laughing now. It may be a shrewd move. Time will tell.

If we are allowing dubz to move on, perhaps there is some logic.

However, I'd prefer us to just buy a decent ball playing keeper with Pope as competition

Trafford was our No1 choice. He's off the table. Signing Ramsdale as an interim upgrade on Dubs (off to Saudi?). Frees up money for elsewhere and we can sign a No1 next season when Pope goes.

Im not sure what the point you are making here and perhaps it's just a case of not agreeing but Pope and Ramsdale is significantly better than Pope and Dubravka.

Elanga is a good signing, Ramsdale would be decent one (although not in the context of Trafford) but ultimately the success of our window will come down to whether we can pull 2 or 3 more players out of the bag. I don't think anyone is confident we will.

Of course he was

Well I can't prove it now but I completely disagree. Pope would have started and eventually Trafford would have taken his place. Its also the view of a fair few journalists who were following the deal.

I actually thought after Trafford that we might gamble and go into the window as we were, as far as goalkeepers, so im pleased that the club have at least tried to freshen things up.
