I expect any sporting director we do sign to be responsible for negotiating transfers for the players Eddie wants and not much else tbh.

As I said at the time, it's obvious to me Mitchell lost the power struggle and was binned/sidelined

The issue stems further back than that and you need to look at the old West Brom set up. Eales was close with DA and it made sense he was brought in, he was then close to Mitchell who he chose to bring in. I've said for a couple of years, people were brought in to the back room setup that maybe werent there purely for the good of the club and thats an issue that isn't going away. We held the cards at the start but not so much now.

Soon as Eales was moving on his guy was always going to, the first speech that was made basically cemented this position but the guy coming in could have a similar issue.

Hopefully there is a cohesive unit off the pitch as much as there is on it asap.

I love that we rang up for Dibling and they convinced us into this instead

Well it's a step up on the last make weight goalkeeper foisted on us.

You dont know it yet but we are probably sending Willock there for 45m and buying him for 40m

He'll face the same issues as Mitchell though, if we are signing from a small pool of players, we'll be going up against the cartel every time. Hopefully we can get the timing a bit better next time round. Trafford for example was there for the taking last summer.

bit underwhelming choice. he maybe marginally better than Pope, but no big way to improve for him in terms of potential like Trafford would have it. Arsenal did well getting Raya and upgrade on him.

on loan without mandatory buy option could be OK. or buying him depending on us winning a trophy and getting back to CL again.

imagine he will be only #2 for Pope and still we need to buy him out for 20m. ffs.

Even if this was the plan before the summer, after how the transfer window has went, I don’t think it will be anymore :yao:

Yes, yet another goalkeeper. Just what we need……

Have you seen pope in pre season? We do need one. Not sure ramsdale is the right choice but we are getting desperate.

No. I haven’t. What about Dubs?
