Was a fan of how he came out of his goal to offer for the ball when we had possession at the back. Offers a lot more in build up having a keeper willing to do that.

Particularly one moment in the first half I think it was where Botman and Hall had got themselves into a tricky situation slightly out of position and were being pressed, Ramsdale came right out left and took the position of a centre back dropping off to receive the ball and switch it over to towards Thiaw/Krafth.

Yeah this is what I liked the most about him last night. He wasn't pinging 50 yard passes into the midfielders feet, but he was a genuine extra passing option at the back at times to help us get out of trouble

My main takeaway from him playing was this too. It allows us to play further up the pitch and is a genuine option rather than Pope, who we can only really pass to out of sheer necessity and it gets pumped into the stands.

Even if Ramsdale is a slightly worse shot stopper than Pope, it’s a trade off worth making in my opinion.

Points are fair and valid and typically I'd agree. However, Pope has started really well this year and he's contributing to the many clean sheets.

His passing has been competent so far, a stark contrast to last season where it almost seemed like he was regressing.

I imagine having a genuine replacement and fellow English NT keeper in the wings has lit a fire under his arse. If mistakes start creeping in, Ramsdale will be in and would expect he'd manage to keep the role.

Not that it means much but Pope is currently leading the golden glove standings. It helps that our defence has been exceptional this year, back to 2022/23 levels.

If only we can keep it tight like that when we have Wissa back and Eddie figures out how to work more goals into the team.

I do think Ramsdale would be better on balance in most games, but I like Pope and get why he won’t be dropped.

Pope's been outstanding so far this season, would be criminal to drop him regardless of Ramsdale's ability. Otherwise I agree, Ramsdale brings more to the table as an all round keeper.

I'm just delighted we have two goalkeepers that are so good in slightly different ways too.

I don't know if anyone caught the Lincoln vs Chelsea game or highlights but that Jorgensen guy they have as a backup was a calamity, and even Sanchez who starts for them can be so chaotic too. Then you have had the likes of Onana and Bayendir at Man United as well.

Quite surprising that no one else looked at Ramsdale, especially for the kind of deal we were able to get him for.

Should play Pope and Ramsdale for 19 games each, get 1 and 2 in the GG competition

Think he just ruined his reputation with the thing he said about concentration TBH. Before that he was highly rated.

As you say, much worse keepers plying their trade in the PL.

Agree with this. Pope has been at his absolute best.

He only wanted Newcastle! 😉

Feels weird discussing how we should potentially drop a goalkeeper in great form who has kept four clean sheets in five games but that is modern football for you! I would like to see Ramsdale as our first choice personally as I think it helps everyone else in front of him and will enable us to play higher up and more effectively.

Would like to see Botman, Thiaw and Ramsdale start on Tuesday in the CL to try and give us some control.

He became a figure of fun basically, quite a lot of our fanbase were dead against him coming here whenever his name came up. But I always thought he looked really good at Arsenal before he got replaced. Every keeper goes through a shaky spell, Pope has done the same.
