Bat shit crazy idea.....use him as a sub 70-80 minutes into games for his ability on the ball and to help us keep control of the game.

I like it, it would really piss off the Cartel cheerleaders as well.

I thought he was very good. Wasn’t needed on the ball much. But clearly miles better than Pope at that and no heart attacks.

One gripe is that I thought he was rooted to his line on crosses. Thought there were a few times he could have come for it or would have been able to claim it and not punch. If he had been a bit more aggressive.

Pope is still the better keeper. But not worried at all for cup games or if Pope gets crocked again and Ramsdale gets a run.

Very different to Pope, Ramsdale's very much a 2022 (distribution, pace off the line, agile) keeper. I wonder if the more traditional Pope (size, presence, better on crosses, possibly a better shot stopper) is going to show his worth more domestically ? Particularly as we're seeing long throws and more direct play increasing in the English game. Definitely an argument to use Ramsdale in games when we're likely to have less possession and the transition is going to be key.

I still think, come the end of the season and he'll be our regular starter and Ramsey will be over Joelinton.

(Fwiw last weekend I said I wouldn't be surprised if Sunderland went until boxing day without a league win)
