I imagine there's levels to it though. The fact people on here said they'd be happy with Jackson but only as a Wilson replacement speaks volumes I think.

The first choice replacement would have to be of much higher quality I would imagine.

I'm not disagreeing, i just don't think we get a striker anywhere close to Isak.

Looking at his goal return only (I haven't watched him like you all have) I don't disagree.

I think the best thing you can do is look for younger players with the upside to one day approximate what he gives and fill up the squad with as much talent as possible.

In fairness I think that's exactly what they tried to do this summer.

When we signed Isak, we didn’t know we were getting an Isak

Yes, that sentence makes no sense - but it sort of does at the same time

I get what you are saying, again i am not disagreeing. But if we are looking for the same calibre player of Isak to come in and replace him, we are not finding him in this transfer window. I am referring to to the Edwards tweet.

If you want a potential world beater then you probably have to go massive on Samu. If you want a player will get a decent amount of goals and slot into our team pretty seamlessly then it’s Jackson. Realistically I’m not sure who else there is. The other option is to try and get Isak playing again which carries its own risks.

I do think if we were to get Jackson then it would be as a Wilson replacement. Here are my workings out:

Wilson: Many games lost to injury

Jackson: Many games lost to AFCON

Jackson = Wilson replacement

I think people look at Jackson like he is the finishes article in terms of development and that isn’t the case, there is a lot of untapped  potential in him.

He is less than a year older than Woltemade, but has a much better scoring record, yet one would be seen as coming in with bags of potential but the other not?

He just lacks the wow factor like Isak has when he around the box, but he does tick a lot of boxes in terms of what Eddie might want in a frontman, while being able to work on his confidence and composure.

The AFCON becomes an issue if we are also buying Wissa but that is for the club to work out, maybe a decision needs to be made on Osula if the faith isn’t there for him as a third choice striker.

If the price is right then he would be a decent signing, potentially giving us a pot of money left if Isak is sold to strengthen elsewhere.

I think he’d do well in our set up and of course Eddie would get more out of him. Would love him and Wissa but the ACON is the issue.

Interesting and I know what mean regarding the unknown \ lesser known signing being more exciting. I must admit I'm guilty of being swayed by premier league headlines as I don't watch as many non Newcastle games as I used to.  Just I've never sat there thinking sh1t he'll score today when watching him in opposition...

As always I would 100% support if the club brings him in

I'd actually see Wissa as more of an Isak replacement than Jackson tbh. Just feel his finishing is more refined, Jackson is still very much in the works.

Wissa replaces Isak’s goals (more or less). However, he doesn’t replace his ‘status’ in the squad as a young player whose value will increase. The former is more important than the latter.

It does seem that way and probably how it's going to happen. I just meant that Jackson probably doesn't have the upside (from what I read) to be a legitimate Isak replacement.

I think if they buy him he would probably moved on again in a few years when better becomes available.

Yeah, I get that. Although Isak is beyond the value increasing status now, he's basically arrived. Jackson still seems a bit raw, that is why I would bank of Wissa at the moment rather than him.

The more time passes, the more re-integrating Isak seems like the best bet for this season

Thanks for your kind words…

I think Jackson could surprise a lot of you in here he has the skills and attributes just needs them refined.

And him been introduced to a family atmosphere will sort his heed the ball tenancies out.

I'd pay about 60 million for him in today's market.

or 70 with no clauses added.

Not sure on the price but I believe he would be a surprise hit here.
