Abacus
In two minds as to whether to start him up front. I imagine they will be sitting back which might mean his lack of pace is less of an issue and his clever footwork could open them up. I'd feel a bit more confident in saying this if he was physically more dominant or had protection from referees when he's fouled.
lovejoy
Start him up front tomorrow is my take.
Whitley mag
Get the lad up front it’ll either finish him off here or be the catalyst. He’s never a fucking midfielder and if the manager can’t move away from 4-3-3, we need to know if he can lead the line. That's rewriting history imo. Wolte had scored 4 goals in his last 14 starts (+ 2 sub appearances) when Wissa made his first start in the league. There were already lots of questions about whether he was a good fit, and it was believed that getting Wissa back would give us a new spark, as Wolte was looking increasingly out of place. I don't think there was all that much rhythm and confidence going for him at the time. We (including Howe) could not have predicted that Wissa would be shit, and in fact Wissa scored in both of his first 2 starts for us. Benching Wolte for Wissa made a lot of sense back then. The problems with Wolte didn't start there, and he was only starting most games in november and december due to lack of options, and not because he was pulling up trees. DC Magpie
The season is what is is. Safe from relegation, and Europe ain't happening. If the plan is never to start Woltemade up front again even in these circumstances, then just let the poor lad go. It's hard to watch his confidence get flushed like this. Though I suppose a brace (hell, even a goal) against the Mackems would go a long way toward erasing the grime of the last three months.

The College Dropout
Woltemade’s position is only slightly better than Wissa’s. Think there’s no chance he starts up top Every Howe player needs a level of aggression. He doesn’t have it

TRC
Our best games have been with Gordon up top but they have been against teams who come at us. Not sure Gordon has the quality to play up top against a low block. Also don’t want Woltemade starting so I have no idea what to do
nufcjb
He'll score a hattrick tomorrow.

alexf
Has Gordon had any good games upfront at home recently? Struggling to remember any really, seems to struggle when teams sit deep. Like that Everton game where he ended up getting put out wide instead.

But yeah can see him struggling for any space tomorrow and will likely get dominated physically. Be interesting how Howe decides to set up. Just dreading a repeat of that Everton game really where everything we tried just didn't seem to work.

Yorkie
Nowhere near the team for me. Understand the argument against a low block, given his close control etc, but if chances are going to be in short supply then we can't have someone who labours to get on the end of them.
