I would want to give him atleast one more season. Would be pretty sad if he has a great World Cup and then sold by us only to continue his good form elsewhere.

I feel for Nick - must be hard seeing Wissa coming on ahead of him

I don’t know if I’d read too much into him not playing today.

We were basically playing deliberately on the counter. Osula and Wissa, for as much as his miss was bad, are better fits for that as central strikers.

I would have quite liked to see him playing as a 10, but we all know that isn’t likely to happen. I’d be more concerned if we don’t see him across the next three games, where we’re more likely to dominate possession.

Love him and want him to succeed because he's got class, but smile ffs. Not difficult. I get he's pissed off but just pretend for 2 seconds for the team, and the fans.

Was warming up in front of where I sit today along with Gordon, Ramsey and Elanga.

When Howe made our subs, he sent Trippier down to where they were warming up. It seemed like Trippier was sent to explain the rationale to them because there were words exchanged with Woltemade and Elanga looking particularly pissed off. Elanga was pointing, angry looking and very vocal. Woltemade was downbeat and basically stopped warming up, instead just pretty much stood there and started talking to the Brighton subs. Gordon seemed to get the majority of the explanation from Trippier and seemed pretty cool with whatever was being said.

It didn’t look a happy camp to me.

Subs disappointed they’re not getting minutes? Well I never!

In 40 years of watching live football, I’ve never seen a senior player sent to explain a managers rationale to subs. Thought it was worth pointing out.

Today sums up the conundrum for me with him - where do you play him? He's not a target man or a counter attack threat - so he doesn't get on as a striker. And his midfield performances are not at the level of the natural midfielders. So he ends up getting no minutes.

My suspicion is he leaves on loan for Bayern in the summer and then smashes in 20+ goals next season for them. I think he'd be wonderful in a team that commands 70%+ possession regularly and creates several chances per match in the box. But is that really going to be our style next season?

Feel for him. The way we set up today was no place for him. I’d still want to see him start a home game behind Osula before the season ends.

…and I wanted a pony for Christmas.

He’s done at Newcastle. I really wish it had worked for him here but at this point his agent is negligent letting him stay. He has no place in this system with this coach. And it looks like Eddie is staying.

ran into a couple Geordies at the inter Miami game tonight. Miami choked away a 3-0 lead and lost 4-3 in extra time. Glad we could make the Geordies feel like they were at home.

I hope Eddie has a plan in mind for pre-season on how to get the best out of him.

Well not playing him in a 4-3-3 would be a start.

Well he does if we don't play on the counter. If we want to be a top side, we CANT play like this in the majority of games.

Have we ever been 3-0 up and lost 4-3?

Imagine performing like Elanga all season, then being angry when you don’t get bought on [emoji38]

I really hope we are not playing the same style as we have done for majority of this season

I remember being 4-0 away at QPR with a Chris Waddle first half hatrick

Finished 5-5. Felt like a loss.
