Chelsea 0-1 Newcastle United (14/03/26) | post-match huddle pg. 30

Recommended Posts

So defensively stout in the second half. Really limited to Palmer floating those curling balls in from central areas (and his technique on them is admittedly very good), and their runners trying to glance them into the corner of the goal. But the defenders stayed goal side and did enough to make them tough chances.

Elanga did nicely when he came on too. Starting to lose the happy feet and take his time to make the right decision. Great to see.

So many positives from that.

You're right like, that is 100% their new age manager being inspired while listening to diary of a CEO.

Got to question why Howe hasn't picked up more wins during those 40 years.

Im sure he won twice there with Bournemouth.

Eddie Howe 1-0 LinkedIn Liam

That was such a good away performance, out of possession its the best i've seen from us. Everyone to a man was quality. Would say it was between Gordon, Thiaw and Willock for Man of the Match.

He definitely used AI to pick the team.

Ref should really have to explain his handling of this, surely even that thick cunt can see why this would be controversial.

Haven’t really paid attention but they’ve started doing this at the centre circle and been a load of noise around it and the ball. I think the ref has tried to stop it and it’s backfired

The "Ref-Huddle" Manifesto 🦓

I’m thrilled to share a revolutionary tactical shift we’ve implemented on the training ground this week. People talk about "low blocks" and "high presses," but at Chelsea, we’re pioneering the "Pre-Match Official Warmth Circle."

Before kick-off, I instructed the boys to ignore the tactical board and instead form a tight, rhythmic huddle around the referee. No shouting, no complaining—just 11 elite athletes standing 4 inches away from the man in black, staring intensely at his whistle in total silence.

Why did we do this?

It wasn't about the game. It was about proxemic dominance. By invading the referee’s personal icosahedron, we achieved three things:

  • Radical Vulnerability: We showed the ref our pores. When you’ve seen a man’s sweat glands, you’re less likely to give him a yellow card for a tactical foul.
  • Acoustic Intimidation: The sound of 11 players breathing in unison creates a low-frequency hum that disrupts the VAR signal in the official's earpiece.
  • The Power of the Pivot: We taught the squad that the center of the pitch isn't the ball—it's the authority figure.

Culture isn't built in the gym. It’s built in the uncomfortable 2-inch gap between a center-back and a referee’s shoulder blade.

2 points off 7th. Albeit with them having a game in hand. Why am I getting hopes up of a late EL push?

Only 6 off 5th! It's genuinely quite amazing how despite many dogshit results the possibility of finishing in European spots just refuses to die.
