Newcastle United vs. mackems: 22/3/26 @ 12:00 (Sky Sports)

Recommended Posts

Need a goal in the first half an hour, 2 up by half time and they could crumble.

Also just as likely that they'll do away with football and be scrappy as fuck with us unable to break them down and it could finish 1-0 either way.

No Bruno or Tonali, typical luck.

So onto these cunts

Well my usual negative self can see nothing but 0-0 an I mean that.

Tough to score against, these will sit, kick and generally waste time and all of a sudden the game will be over, not expecting a classic at all and it suits them to bore the fuck out of everyone and hope to nick one off a throw or set piece

Losing this is unthinkable.

They'll play a low block, which is something we struggle against. I can see us just about scraping a 1-0 win.

Prepare yourself for ~80% possession and trying to get through the lowest and blockiest low block you've ever seen.

We should play Lewis Hall as a winger, seems like our best player at actually beating a man, rather than outsprinting one.

Really does feel like we have to win.

We can't be losing twice to this lot in the same season and I don't think a draw will suffice. They're not all that and have been lucky as fuck in many of their games.

That being said, they're resilient and hard to beat. They're a kryptonite for us as it is, never mind the fact they play with a low-block which is our worst nightmare.

If we score first and early and they have to open up it could be very different, but I fear we will really miss Tonali and especially Bruno in the midfield battle.

Aye. After the collapse yesterday and the non game we showed up at their place earlier in the season, this is a must win.

Need to start fast and press the life out of them. Similar to Chelsea at home this season but without throwing the win away like that game.

I'm sure we'll win, no reason we wouldn't.

There's plenty of reasons.

They have to Partridge bounce back from that howking last night against a feisty blood and thunder low block, recipe for disaster unless we're mentally on it.

But we will be mentally on it.

I’m not sure what it takes for people to accept that Eddie has the lads behind him and know what’s needed.

FWIW I expect a strong finish to the season. Making some errors against Barca doesn’t impact that at all IMO.

Fatigue is our biggest enemy right now.

Burn, Thiaw and Hall look knackered. Sandro and Bruno out, Miley dead.

Wolte and Wissa unplayable.

I agree and hope for the same but we absolutely could shit the bed and lose, got about 7 months evidence of that given our season so far.

So, if Tonali's out will it be Willock or Wolt that comes in ?

Willock is the obvious choice. But we'll have about 75% possession against a very low block with 11 behind the ball. So for this particular game Wolt might be the better choice for breaking down that defence and playing those through balls in the absence of Bruno.

Let's not forget how dreadful we were with Woltemade up front. Needs to be Gordon and two of Murphy, Barnes or Elanga. That change is largely responsible for our upturn in form imo, this isn't the game to be gambling in hope we suddenly know how to be a functioning team with Woltemade leading the line.

Futurama Squinting GIF

Le Fee and Talbi have more quality on the ball than any of our fit and available midfield or attack.
