Every player goes down the tunnel now after being subbed, predumably for some sort of warm down fitness thingy. Can't be good to play 70 mins of football then just sit on a bench.

Martins "storming down the tunnel" is mentioned in the Independent's report - something like "down the tunnel and, if the right offer comes along, out of Newcastle."

From the same paper who published that interview saying he loved it here on Saturday morning. They also claimed he tried to avoid Sam's handshake, which is total bullshit and you'd think they'd do some basic research about the fact that all our substituted players go down the tunnel - I expect us to see a few more publicised "tunnel escapes" over the course of the season by lazy journalists.

Then what are they going to print? To be honest they probably know full well about Allardyces methods but that wont fill the big empty space in their section of the paper.

Its quite sad how predictable these things are though, really should be some sort of regulations in place stopping them making up stories because they are too fucking lazy to do some proper work!

Exactly. Thing is though, as I keep preaching, a lot of morons will have bought that paper because of that story, so what do the journos care if it's true or not?

One of tomorrows papers reporting that Ronnie is going to Chleski for £100m and will be on £200,000 a week

Doesn't he have an £86m release clause?

Would explain the lack of cash thrown about by them this season.

You just simply couldn't make it up.

Maybe Ashley in a toon top has ignited a passion inside him again.

Roman to top him with his own squad number and to play Right back next home match.

Who knows what goes on in that crazy Russians head  :frantic:

Man City being linked with a £10m bid for Adriano and Villa looking at Zat Knight.

There can only be one or two explanations for this. West Brom don't want to sell Davies for cash alone as Luton get a third of it. They've asked for Cahill in part exchange.

So we get Davies, Laursen, Mellberg and Knight as our CBs, with Cahill going to Albion (although he could also just be going there on loan).

Looked at that way, it isn't too bad. The other interpretation is that we'll have Laursen, Mellberg, Cahill and Knight as our CBs, which isn't actually that bad a line up.

Either way, Knight is fourth choice CB, and is probably about as good a player as you could get to be fourth choice.

The fact he is Fulham's skipper and a regular starter and opting for the bench is odd, but then again he's from Solihull and a Villa supporter, which may explain it. Oh, and he actually scored for us on Saturday, bizarrely enough.

Reds boss to raid Real for Baptista - Teamtalk

Liverpool have tabled a bid of £13.5million for Real Madrid striker Julio Baptista, according to Spanish newspaper Marca.

The Brazilian - nicknamed 'The Beast' - spent last season on loan at Arsenal but failed to shine consistently, although he did net four goals as the Gunners beat Liverpool 6-3 in a Carling Cup tie at Anfield in January.

After helping Brazil win the Copa America over the summer he was linked with a move for AC Milan, but it is now claimed Rafael Benitez has entered the bidding with an offer that may be enough to tempt Real to sell.

They are looking to raise money to enable them to make a fresh move for Sevilla full-back Daniel Alves, and Marca claims they could also be ready to sell Roberto Soldado to Benfica.

Baptista will not make it over here. He was exceptionally poor at Arse.
