  2. Although the FA cup is more prestigious than the Carabao I really think that the top teams now put out stronger teams in the Carabao latter stages. The timing of the semis and final suits their agenda better than the FA cup when they could well be involved in the latter stages of European competition and the concluding part of the PL season as well. Certainly Brentford, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and ourselves put everything into the Carabao games.

  4. irespective of where we finish in the top 5 we still qualify for C.L. so would take a draw, be absolutely brilliant if we finish 2nd, also its extra money by position on final lge table...personally i would prefer Forest ahead of Chelsea or Villa (disliked them since the "sob on the tyne" crap) to nab the 5th position

In the end, the 70 million deal fell through and Victor Boniface (23) had to stay in Leverkusen. It's no longer a secret that Leverkusen won't be entering the new season with both of its top attackers. Nor is it a secret that Boniface is the more likely candidate for sale. The portal "Africafoot.com" reported on Saturday that the German international could be leaving the Bundesliga. Newcastle are said to be in advanced talks with Bayer Leverkusen regarding Boniface, with a transfer fee of €50 million imminent. According to BILD, no negotiations have yet taken place between the two clubs, who could face each other in the Champions League next season. However, Leverkusen is definitely aware of the Englishman's strong interest in Boniface. The transfer fee mentioned could be in line with the club's expectations.
  7. Probably just need to work on the assumption they’ll all be fit. Lego heed will do anything he can to beat us.
  8. Arrogant as it may sound I don't even think the derbies would be "big" games for us if they came up, in the context that we will have many more important games to play next season. In fact the derbies would just become a distraction to more important matters, would hardly raise an eyebrow if we win them but a shock win for them would be shouted about for ever.
  9. Donnarumma has a year left on his contract i think - id have sandro have a cheeky word with him.
  10. He plays for AC Milan. Seen him wear the armband. People are being pedantic. It's not about the French league, it's about inexperience at a high-level. Being a goalkeeper isn't like being a central midfielder
  11. Unless I’m missing something, a draw at Arsenal will only be of any use if Villa or Chelsea draw their games on Friday. Otherwise, we’ll still need to win vs Everton to be sure of finishing in top 5.
  12. Maignan a keeper from the french league is absolutely brilliant too.
  13. Goalkeeper specifically. As I mentioned elsewhere - there are exceptions but most GKs hit their peak later in their careers. I look at the business other clubs have done: Vicario Sanchez Martinez Ramsdale Kepa Pope The best business was the older GKs. I like Vicario mind but a GK that needs to learn on the job will cost us points.
  14. Yup. Let them get it and then challenge it legally and bring the house down.

    NUFC Transfer Rumours

Has there ever been a real high quality African keeper? I’m sure there probably has been, but I can’t think of one off the top of my head. Suppose Grobbelaar was Zimbabwean wasn’t he? Long time ago though.
  16. Oh I’m all for them winning to bloody the PL and Cartel even more. But the baked in construct of the Cartel rules is what pisses you off.
  17. Apols - read an article that said they were a high probability but never actually looked at the table. Quirk means that those two playing each other means Dortmund need anything more than a one goal win to bag it.
  18. Freiburg are in 4th and play Frankfurt at home. They're a point above Dortmund. Freiburg have 4 wins and a draw in their last 5 matches. Dortmund to the CL is not a guarantee.
  19. Aye, didn’t realise it was an open training session either so even those doing a light session are being classed as back.

Only caught the last 20 mins of normal time and then the extra time. Coventry were absolutely in the ascendancy until the last 15 mins when they ran out of legs. Sunderland were woeful up to that point. I'm not from the NE so the rivalry means very little to me so I feel I can watch it a bit more objectively. And objectively they were rubbish until the Cov players died on their feet.
  21. Wonder why Trubin isn't linked with a PL move yet.
  22. Will be like when Quaid / Hauser goes fucking nuts when they try to put him back in the Total Recall machine. https://youtu.be/YUQuCdPqiKI?si=w4N0JLGdX_YJVea8

  24. Why are we wanting City to get charged? Aren’t they one of our allies in terms of showing how ridiculous FFP is? If they get off scott-free then that opens up the door for our owners to inflate our commercial deals (should they want to) and go ape in the transfer market.
