Apologies, typed too quickly with fat fingers - meant 27 points in 28 games, not 47 points (I also forgot he actually had a watching brief for two more games than I’d calculated - so it is actually 24 in 26). So, it’s actually an even worse direct comparison with Howe. As for Froggy’s point re Howe’s January signings, Man Utd’s bench in Amorim’s first game cost £420m…
-
Steve Bruce would have finished higher in the league with that current squad than Amorim has. They ignored one of the greatest managers in the game (SAF) with his recommendation of David Moyes, thought they knew better, I do wonder how things might have been had they been brave enough to trust Fergie, and rallied behind Moyes.

Forest have done it with a decent window. We showed top 4 form with 1 window. I don't think Man U have great players, it's a weak squad. But it's also not that bad. I think nearly every mainstay PL side is 2-3 transformational players away from a CL challenge + a good manager. We did it, Forest did it, Villa did it. And Man U will have the funds to land the next Palmer or whoever. Ultimately their ownership is their ceiling and they won't make enough good decisions to regularly challenge for titles IMO. But CL? They are only 2 or 3 good moves away from being at the door. All that "we need 5-6 players" is cope for awful management and culture. Not just the manager but everyone above him. Excellent culture and good coaching will have Jacob Murphy posting up 20 G/A in the PL.

Or the transfer fee is so low because his wage will remain high.

How any NUFC fan wants these to go up so we can resume the Derbies is beyond me! I’m sick of hearing the “six easy points” patter too - if football was played on paper then yes, we’d batter them, but it’s not! Anything can happen in a one-off game and they’d probably be happy if they went down with just three points if the three points came from us! Sheff Utd 8-0 please and hopefully we never play them again! Ferk them!

There was that moment he gave up on a ball that he could've kept in play (Tino did in the end). And when he lost the ball for the goal, he didn't have the reaction of a "oh shit I've lost the ball poorly here let me try and rectify", it was a 60% effort to get it back. It's that type of stuff people refer too about his attitude. I think a lot of it is down to his own frustration rather than a lack of care. His head gets down so he's that bit slow to react, assumes a negative outcome. And this is not really a defence because it's a level of mental fragility. He's not blessed with the talent to be so mentally fragile imo
-
I know his petulant whining puts a lot of people off but I think Ange is a great asset to the league, he’s great value. His teams play a crazy fragile style that tends to lead to lots of goals and chances at both ends, if Ange stays and they shop well they will be an entertaining side next year. Plus the media is totally under his skin now so will get plenty of funny moments after Spurs many defeats. I don’t promise that, I guarantee it, mate.
-
He has to shoulder some of the responsibility. I’m amazed how much of a free pass he keeps getting from the media and fans of other clubs. They’ve managed to get worse under him. Although it is hard to properly judge because of them tanking for the Europa and how rigid he has been with his system. But then he has to take a lot of the blame there.

A perfect window, maybe. Still not sure, it’s so competitive now.

Lloyd Kelly - Juventus' €17.5m Obligation to Buy Activated (Romano)
The College Dropout replied to a topic in Football
No idea about his background and no issues with the lad personally. Just didn't see it for him as a football player. Which doesn't say much. -
No offence taken. Everything you said is bang on. I was super disappointed in Fernandes last night.
-
Here's hoping Amorim can do something similar to a team starting with an A this Sunday
-
You're a big club Bobby. A well supported club. Once the crown prince dipped his fingers in, you were only going one way.
-
Amorim has been dealt a really shoddy hand. There's virtually no steel in the squad. Maguire for all his many faults at least showed commitment. Fernandes was super disappointing yesterday. Casemiro tried, but he's on his last legs. Less said about Rasmus the better. (Not intended to rub salt in the wounds, Frog).
-
Yes Tom but how do you really feel?
-
Really wish Kelly the best, came from a very difficult background to become a PL player and now is at Juventus, a great story and he’s a great role model. He’s not deserving of some of the (older) comments on here
-
Oh aye, success was inevitable when we were making transfer moves in Jan 2022
-
That ugly pasty lad said something similar this morning though
-
Amorim has come under some criticism for that to be fair. Casemiro has been really good in Europe, but because of Ugarte doing all the dirty work beside him. Playing Bruno deep for the whole game last night was a strange decision, especially when he was really ineffective there. It also left Casemiro to chase back a lot, and he genuinely looked like he might die.
-
That might be the worst fight I've seen in my whole life.
-
Totally earned his £500k a week salary and Caribbean island signing on fee
-
Don’t mind Casemiro’s angle, i.e. it is the worst season for their club in the Premier League/ship era (trumping last year’s lowest league finish, and by some distance but without cup compensation) but he’s happy with his own hard work/dedication. The way he was moving last night though, risks being known as Trunkmiro.
