Data's not everything but think using it for Goalkeeping performance is fair: Save% Pope is 9th GA per 90 he's 7th Playing time is 14th Saves he's 13th Pass completed % he's 17th Number of defensive actions outside of the box he's 2nd Here's a link if anyone wants to look for more positive data for Pope - https://fbref.com/en/comps/9/keepersadv/Premier-League-Stats Attempted to be balanced as possible, but I'm not seeing anything to suggest he's this top class keeper in other areas to accept his woefulness with his feet. Sure eye test also matters, but we are likely to be biased in that regard and the data here matters in my opinion. We are a top 6 team, we want to be CL most seasons, I'm not seeing anything in the data except his ability as a sweeper keeper, which I'd agree he's very good at, to suggest we should continue with Pope as our #1.
  3. Wages will be a problem if he doesnt succeed there.
  4. This will confuse the Scousers. Give a player stick for walking away out of contract, yet the club say Diaz isn't for sale but won't give him a new deal? Works both ways.
  5. Damn that might be it. Really does look like a “Laters Eddie la, I’m off to maccies” message.
  6. So he wasn’t saying he’s been eating a few burgers?
  7. Can anyone share this in full for those of us without accounts?

    João Pedro

Would have him quickly, good player. Clearly an eye for goal. Could do with diving less.
  9. Hope they holdout for at least £70m!
  10. 🖤🤍 “The goal highlighted Cheick and his personality to a tee. I can still see him wheeling away all aggressive before he broke into that enormous smile, which illuminated the whole stadium and became an iconic moment in Newcastle's recent history."
  11. Grim af on here these days like. Can't even say "fish supper" 😉
  12. I think its more likely they know they're controversial owners and they don't want to ruffle any feathers. Which to be honest, I understand, and to me personally exploiting loopholes feels a bit dirty. (Don't go back and check my previous posts, i'm sure ive said the opposite in the past )
  13. In his givemesport column. Said he wants an important salary but would be no different to other players like Cunha etc. Of the new signings under INEOS, the highest paid has been De Ligt, who took a pay cut from £265k a week to £195k a week at us. That was a marquee signing from Bayern. £180-200k will almost certainly be the range for Cunha and Mbeumo. There's no way he's getting £250,000. I'll eat my hat.

Proper well put that like Chicken Dancer 👏
  15. Gordon’s “blah blah blah” reaction to the original Liverpool rumours btw
  16. Why would we sign Matt O'Riley? Onana level minimum. Aye Krafth and Lascelles are injury crisis players. That's fine.

    NUFC Transfer Rumours

Yeah, I'd love to see them given a chance too. Some rise to the occasion, some don't. Chelsea sold Hall for psr.
  18. I'm sure it was mentioned she has been offered a coaching role here, so maybe hear other news on that soon.
  19. Maybe we just don't have many assets we could sell.

Yeah. If we do as much in depth homework as we allegedly do. Then makes perfect sense if the same player for same position comes available again we’d revisit if the parameters of the financial package haven’t changed unreasonably. Hence my only doubt with this link. Like @The College Dropout said i think in some games he could actually displace Joelinton in midfield. Feel his ability is a little wasted too high up the pitch.
  21. Pope is a really good goalkeeper at being well - a goalkeeper. Good shot stopper and surely one of the best in the league at commanding his box. He's really decent at sweeping up too (Liverpool Feb 23 aside...). It's really fashionable to think keepers are crap because they can't ping a ball like Ederson, but 10 years ago Pope would have been talked about as one of the best about. He is absolutely fine and was crucial to any success we've had over the past 3 years - if it wasn't for him we'd have had enormous pressure going to Chelsea away last game of 22/23 and if he hadn't done his shoulder against Man Utd the following year, we've have likely finished a place or two higher and been in Europe last season. That being said, there's nothing wrong with wanting to upgrade, I just don't know/think it should be our #1 priority this summer. I'm not even sure Trafford would be an upgrade yet, but it's OK to think he would be long-term. If we've earmarked Trafford for over a year now he may know that he would be the starter in the cups initially with the intention to have him as our #1 from 26/27 (or later), but after the season he's just had he may not be happy with that. Either way, I trust the club to do the right thing. We've seen success in slowly integrating Livramento & Hall into the side, though granted it may be different for a keeper.
  22. No, but I want this Cordero kid to be so good that EH considers letting AG leave.
  23. Think it’s more frustrating we don’t exploit the loopholes, rather than being annoyed at the clubs that have tbh.
