So that's Neto, Tosin, Delap (among other clubs obv), Pedro we've been in for in the last few years and they've all gone to Chelsea. And they hijacked Liverpool's move for Caicedo and Arsenal's move for Mudryk. Can definitely feel the generational divide when players are choosing fucking Chelsea over those clubs.

Can only hope it comes crashing back to earth. Doesn’t really help they’ve made 50+ million in a couple weeks at this farce of a tournament.

This is very much Chelsea buying a player just so someone else doesnt get them. They arent going to make a profit by flipping him in a year or so, and hes unlikely to be in their starting 11 given how many better players they already have for his role.

Is it feasible that Chelsea’s squad becomes so big and expensive that it leaves the atmosphere ?

I should probably bore off out of this thread and take it to the PIF one tbh . Re: being number 1, PIF always makes really bold claims about its projects, but they rarely live up to the grand expectations they set. I could go on about The Line, Neom, Al-Ula, the Haramain railway, the new airport, even a bloody aquarium; all marketed as “the best in the world,” but while some are impressive, none have really reached that level (some not even close). Also using investment processes to run a football club isn’t that bizarre though? Modern clubs are big businesses and need strategic management. Granted, football clubs are different to a lot of other investments but with the right leadership I don’t see why it’s that ridiculous. Maybe I’m not understanding what your concerns are in that regard.

The buyback on Quansah is hefty-mind. Think they've put it in as an anti-Palmer measure, but not in the Real Madrid way. RM typically sell at a fair price, then has a good buyback or % clause on further transfers. Liverpool has secured a good price, so their buyback is substantial. Guehi is the Konate replacement, it's just a case of bringing it forward if it suits. They like a youngster for the Quansah role - I don't think that fits the win now narrative previously discussed. It's just a continuation of what they wanted with Quansah - it's just that he wanted out.

Meh. I'm a bit disappointed with this one, thought he'd bring us something a bit different. But not too disappointed, if he chose Chelsea then fine, and I suppose we're at least looking at exciting players who might give us different options. And well done to Chelsea for hoarding every player they can buy and to the players who choose them for wanting to be treated like transfer cattle.

By June 30th? Of course. It became apparent Minteh was going to be sold in the last week or two. Think he rejected Lyon at a higher price. Anderson was later and Vlad later still. But all before 30th June. We dealt with the PSR issue at the very last. Which is why we made such rushed and bad deals. Pretty much every other team had done the bulk of their business prior. Forst sold £50m worth of player to Lyon. Villa did their business earlier, Chelsea, Everton, Leicester etc. or at last the transfers were widely reported.

So just listing every transfer done so far and pretending they were linked with a move to us? Plus a few randoms pulled out of their fat arses. I see theyre still peddling that "stepped aside" bullshit trope from the Pardew years. Conveniently forgetting the signings of Isak, Tonali, Gordon, Trippier etc etc etc any one of which would comfortably be their best player in decades. Inferiority complex rules on wearside, not surprising when you see what a fucking hovel their town is.

How? The idea was that they would be forced to sell some type of prized assets to just become PSR compliant. And they wouldn’t have money to plug gaps in the squad. Thats not going to happen because their owners have been wily with PSR.

It's coping really. We wanted him, Howe would have improved him, he would have fit in nicely in a 4231 or as a direct Isak rotation option. For me it's just about sitting with how much I loathe Chelsea. They don't need him and their fans aren't that enthusiastic about the signing, and it stinks of 'we don't really want him but you can't have him' - but what pisses me off more than anything is players continuing to choose them. Yes the money, yes London, yes the contract etc, but still, awful club and fans.

Were there particularly strong rumours about Anderson and Minteh before we sold them? Can’t really remember tbh, and all the journos now report that it was ‘well known’ we had to sell to meet the deadline, but I don’t really recall there being a sense of panic on here or elsewhere in the days leading up to it?
