  1. Past hour
  2. Jeez, they have a baseball jersey aswell which is even worse, and even more expensive

    João Pedro

Be gutted if this doesn't come off now, it gives our attack a new dimension
  4. I think he makes so much sense. I'd be delighted with him.
  5. Chelsea have an NFL shirt??? To support the world club cup? Stuff PSR we should just go all out to recruit their accountants and marketing team....we'll never be broke again

Yeah, good point. Last season Poch often played Palmer on the right wing, but he had freedom to find spaces to influence the game by coming inside, with Gusto overlapping. Was very effective. Could see a similar setup if Pedro is played there.
  7. With abominations like this I'm sure they'll be able to buy more. “Don’t make a choice between your love of Chelsea and your passion for the NFL…put both on display with this official Nike Jersey”

    Fkn hell. He needs sedating.

I'd find a way to start him over Murphy like. Although in reality they would both play a very important role in most of the games.

Moving our great RB to LB so we can move our great LB to our great midfield is peak N-O.
  11. Nothing new...complainers like to complain. If Leazes was bulldozed and rebuilt into a car park who would really miss it? Give it a publicity angle and the whingers are out in force (plus the ftm brigade)
  12. Gordon and Palmer were not first team regulars going into that tournament and MGW was Miles away from the senior squad. None of those players were set to be cornerstone players in a 50-game campaign the next season. That competition was the first time Gordon was playing regularly and scoring goals in his professional career. Palmer too at that point. MGW was not about to play CL football the next season. Wuansah and Gray aren’t in the first team of their squads and are unlikely to be next season. This might push their profile at their clubs. Gray in particular had a horrible season (although he did play a lot) - this tournament might shift the momentum in his career. This tournament might help their chances of starting the first game in August at their clubs Gordon style. Tino’s just played 3.5k minutes and was a top performer, he’ll need a rest. Tino’s opposite fullback plays in the Czechia B Team or second division or something. The German RB looks like a squad option at Frankfurt. These are boys to Tino.

It's going to be strange spending £60m on a player who probably doesn't start in our best XI (unless he really can be pushed to RW). Depth, versatility and fluidity are crucial for next season, though.
  14. It fits with how we originally bid for Maddison too, granted that was with Trippier at RB. It always seemed an odd bid, given his lack of physicality, but it showed we were possibly willing to play with a playmaker on the wing. Joelinton too isn't your traditional winger but Howe's played him RW.
  15. There's this guy Abdul Fatawu at Leicester, he might be available for ~30m if they need to sell.. left footed RW.. missed all last season injured but I've seen him a couple of times in the Championship, he'd be an asset for us right away and he's still very young. Although the top RW target SHOULD BE Roony Bardghji, contract expiring in Dec, so basically free. Also missed last season with knee injury but he's an unreal talent and he has already proven it at CL level. Maybe a little too short, therefore unathletic enough for Eddie's liking.. but there are bargains on the market - I still can't believe that we're targeting exclusively PL players.

More of a free role from that position would work IMO. Especially because of how well Tino gets up and down the line to provide width. Would allow for Pedro to come inside and find spaces to pick up playing off Isak. Bruno could then be a bit more reserved in how much he pushes forward too.

    João Pedro

Other way round for me. He seems more of a striker than a wide player, that's how I've always viewed him, although tbf I've not watched him that extensively. I think he would do fine as rotation for Isak.

    João Pedro

Yeah that's what I meant. A front 3 of Gordon/Isak/JP would be very good, then you've got options in the absence of any. Obviously I'd prefer JP + a right winger.
  20. I don’t think you develop much playing at a level or two below the one you’ve got 3.5k minutes in over 9 months. And the 3.5k+ minutes at a higher level he’s about to play next season too. Someone mentioned Quansah - he’s played 1/3 of the minutes Tino has this season. Nobody in that squad has the pedigree of Tino. Not even close.

    João Pedro

I think he’s concerned slightly how little certain games Isak is involved in so maybe someone more on his wavelength to play with and interchange positions etc during the game which obviously Murphy will not offer when that is needed.

    João Pedro

I do wonder whether Eddie is thinking about taking a risk and bringing him in to start at RW. A risk in terms of JP not being used to that position, rather than him not being quality in general.

There where two options for him this summer: 1) To play in a meaningful tournament, get further big game experience in a tournament environment, play in big stakes games, and be a leader among the squad and learn how to hone them skills further. 2) To play a friendly match, and a game against Andorra, where he will likely only have gotten some token minutes. Clearly for his long term prospects number 1 is the better option, and England absolutely made the right decision, along with Anderson, Gray, Quansah etc. The same how all of Gordon, Tonali, Palmer, Gibbs-White & Pedro Neto's development was helped during the last Under 21's Euros 2 years ago. Joe Hart was saying on comms last night that he owed a lot of his development to the experience he got in his two Under 21 tournaments that he was a part of, and how that helped him feel more at ease when he played in tournaments further down the line, as well as big games in his club career. So I don't understand this view that "He's past U21's Football", if you're eligible, and their isn't bigger fish to fry, then you absolutely should be going to the tournament, its all valuable experience that will make him a better footballer in the long run. And besides, he probably wants to be their playing
