Quick look at Transfermarkt and taken with a pinch of salt, but they only list the top 100 transfer fees paid by Scottish clubs and they are ALL Celtic or Rangers. Number 100 is €2.8M for Steven Naismith in 2007/08.

That was my first thought too. Injury trouble, coming off a less productive season, potential gambling addiction - if we could find someone with all three they'd be perfect for us. Really though, you are right. We're going to struggle going head-to-head with the established "top" clubs for players so we have to move when they hesitate.
