Pointless? It's a punishment. I suppose what I'm saying is it's a shit form of punishment, in most case anyway. Would you advocate getting rid of suspensions altogether, in favour of (presumably) bigger fines? For the most part aye, I'm not really sure how far I'd go like but it would be a massive reduction from what it is, where we have a ridiculous tier system leading to things like this. I'd keep them for certain things, racism, extreme violence, reckless and dangerous challenges etc. 5 yellow cards and you miss a game type of stuff though definitely needs to go imo. If you're looking to improve the behaviour/conduct of the players on the park then the only punishment that's going to work would be losing points. Your club "can't control it's players"? no problem, lose 3 points. Your captain bites someone? no problem, lose 5 points. Your players have dived 3 times? no problem, lose 2 points. Guarantee that all of the above would stop if the potential punishment hurt the club in the league table. Behaviour and conduct of the players would improve overnight. I think that would be fairer overall to the league if it was implemented properly, aye. As I say my major problem is certain clubs being effected more by the current system than others. Big, rich clubs losing a player for 3 games is neither here nor there. They've got the largest/best squads in the country so banning an individual players for something he's done during a game doesn't hinder the club at all. The simply bring in another international for a couple of weeks. Fining millionaires isn't going to be a deterrent either. Until the FA look at punishing the club in the league via points deductions because of the conduct of it's players then we'll continue to see these arseholes act like cunts week after week after week.

I disagree and I don't see how it's ridiculous. It highlights the stupidity of their decision making which is the point. You think 7 games for spitting is fine, I reckon it's fucking idiotic. That's why it's ridiculous.

The comparison to Terry's ban for racism is ridiculous. One of the bans was way out of proportion and it isn't Cisse's, all of the criticism should be directed at the FA for only banning him for 4 games, that's the joke ban. Cisse can't really complain, it's abhorrent.

As long as Evans gets just the same I'm not that arsed. I understand that gobbing on someone isn't going to do any physical harm but it can't really be compared to a bad tackle, it's a repugnant act regardless of context and he was always going to be made an example of. They had to go way ott because they can't afford to see spitting creeping into their cash-cow league. If Evans gets away with it though....

The pair of them are fucking disgusting. It's a disgraceful thing to do and they both deserve a ban. Can't just pretend it didn't happen or he should get away with it because he happens to play for your team, it was what it was - fucking disgusting and they were both in the wrong.

Not bothered, me like. It was a fee game anyway.

Just continue to find new ways of conceding/losing. It's beyond embarrassing. It's toe-curling now like.

Still struggling to see anything that Sammy offers. Careless and sloppy game after game, just gives you nowt 95% of the time.

I cannot think of a worse way to manage a group of human beings tbh. Carver needs to get that shirt tattooed on his chest tbh. You're training with Colback and Obertan and this ugly freak makes you wear this monstrosity despite being several divisions better than than the utter cunts around you taking the piss.

Willing to bet he doesn't give a single fuck as long as we're not in grave danger of going down. Just stay up, that's the remit, just stay exactly where we are and he'll be cush.

He's already fielded that one mate... But Carver is adamant there was no club agenda and that, after discussions with the Italian, a switch back to Inter was seen as the best move. The Newcastle boss said: "It's been difficult, he's had his knee problem and he hasn't featured. The emergence of Massadio Haidara and Paul Dummett has been massive. “I think Davide saw that as a bit of an issue. I know he can play on the right but Daryl Janmaat's not done badly, either. He was getting to the stage where he'd played enough Under-21 games and he now needed to play senior football to show he's ready. I think this works best for both parties. "I've got to be honest and I think it's a great move for him. It's the club he's come from. It's where he's from and maybe his girlfriend just finds it difficult because she'll have to move over there. He wasn't pushed out. "I spoke to him, he asked about when he was going to get into the side and I couldn't really give him an answer. I've said from day one if you're in the team, you stay in the team. “If he stays at Milan after the loan then we all move on, but until that happens, he's still our player in our eyes and as far as I'm concerned he's coming back here.”

Really sad that some will see a comfortable win for Man U as some sort of moral victory. "Only lost by 3, better than City result, thought it would have been heavier." Another evening wasted, another fixture fulfilled, 52000 mugs paying through the nose to witness it too.

Everton away in the FA cup, 0-1 - Ian Rush scored for us. Think I was at that. Did he score some kind of backwards header? Iirc it was a scrappy tap in Correct. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sport/44601.stm
