Was just about to ask this as I haven't been able to watch the game...... Basically the typical good half and shit half we are used to seeing this season? Apart from the fact we did have chances 2nd half. If Cisse was someone else we might have been more comfortable tbh. We had 3 shots on target second half, they had 2. They had a little more posession and a great deal more urgency about them. We sat a whole lot deeper than we needed to and hoofed it too much. We had came out second half and started it looking as positive as we finished the first half. You have to expect a reaction from the opposition when they've been victim of a beating like they had. Palace did the same at Anfield second half. Yeah. 'bout sums it up.

Good win. The mirror image of the Everton game. Unlike last year we always look like we are trying to, and are capable of, scoring, but on the downside, I'm still scared shitless whenever another team attacks us. As long as we score one more than them etc etc, but that simply isn't going to happen every week.

Cardiff City vs Newcastle United - Saturday 5th October
BottledDog replied to Dave's topic in Football
Unless we end up spanking the Dragonbirds 3+ to the nil, the team sheet better be on the flip side of his resignation letter if he drops Anita like. Not having that. -
Pardew has been closer to a cup directing a poor team than anyone we've a chance with. This is why he's here. This is why we will all be bathing in the blood of our enemies come May. /slightly drunk.

I'd be open to seeing Sunderland do fairly well (and ourselves to do considerably better than them obviously). It's shit for the whole region to have such a weak group of teams and relatively little success in recent years.

Find that very hard to believe, seems to me that most owners don't generally demand back any money they put in. I'm sure most don't see ownership as a charitable money pit any more, especially foreign investor. One way or another they need to get it back, even the Emirates bods must be seeing some value in the increased profile they've gained. To protect themselves, most owners I'd have thought tend not to use their own money to fund loans, but if they do directly (or through a parent company) then they tend to charge interest unless the club can't afford it (in the case of Bolton, they were charging 10% a while back, more than the interest rate from the banks I'd have thought). For instance, on loaning Villa £49.5m Lerner charged £4.1m per year interest. After the loans increased to £120m+ he had to waive £20m worth of interest payments because the club simply couldn't afford it. Ashley takes neither interest, or a salary, but allows one of his companies free advertising. Doesn't seem a particularly diabolical move by him, though the excuses that nobody else might pay a few quid for the spots seems feeble in the extreme.

The first 10 mins against Hull, we looked as if we'd destroy them. We were God damned awesome! 'Fuck went wrong? /too attacking?

Official: Yoan Gouffran signs new contract with Goztepe
BottledDog replied to Tooj's topic in Football
Yip, thought Ginola v man United as well. Shearer v Chelsea was way further out than that and he also backed Dessailly a good 10 yeards back as well. For a turn yer man and shoot, Shola Vs Chelsea was pretty damn lovely. -
I like Marveaux, but I'm struggling to see that his recent performances have done anything to suggest he should be starting.

Nar man, he's happy for you to dislike the Pardster. Just do it for the right reasons.

That's the problem for Pardew now though. Gouffran has done really well, but Cisse has finally got his goal. To drop him after that would be a killer for his fragile as fuck confidence. -
No doubt about it Agreed. If you actually had a Category 1 academy I presume you would be shouting it from the rooftops. From the Fan Forum Minutes - "The board stated that the club had spent significant sums on the development side to get the Academy up to Category 1 status (i.e. investment in staffing and facilities)." Does that suggest we've actually made it!?!? Wish they would shout it from the rooftops to be honest. It's difficult to get much sense from these short answers in a meeting without much, if any context. I think the wording is quite deliberate, and I am still firmly of the opinion that no, we haven't been awarded Category 1 status. These people are specialists in giving shifty, equivocal answers, and the only reason you would give a shifty and equivocal answer in this case is if the answer is "no"... That said, I would be happy to take it all back if there is a link to what ChricMcQuillan says...? That was my take on it. Would have thought we'd have had announced the shit out of it if it actually happened, and I certainly can't remember the story Chris is hinting at over the summer. But then again, vague hints again from the fans forum, and we still find ourselves playing in the Category One league. Bizarre.

It clearly was for us.We're shit.

Everton vs Newcastle United - 30/09/13 @ 8pm (Sky Sports 1)
BottledDog replied to TRC's topic in Football
We wont score. They will. Monday night FFS. -
We took on more games without investing in the squad because we wanted to win it, aye, right. That's a whole different arguement. If you go down that route (one that we all agree on), we also didn't invest to do well in the Premiership, which is our priority. All I was taking umbrage with was the suggestion we don't try in the cups. We generally do. We might have had a more comfortable season if we'd sacked it off and not bothered in the Euro Cup. But we didn't, we gave it a go.
-
We didn't try to win the UEFA, we tried to go as far as we could but I have seen nothing to suggest that we tried to win it. "we tried to go as far as we could" Well, in a cup competition, that is pretty much all I ask. We could have won it, we tried to win our games, we failed.
-
nailed it - the league is beyond 70% of the teams in it before a ball is kicked, to not try in the cups is a piss take tbh We do try in the cups though. Last year we were bunkum again against Brighton, and went out against ManU, but to say we didn't try to win the Euro Cup is bullshit imho.
