When you've got fuk all its worth taking a reasonable risk on someone, Barnes, Arshivan is a reasonable risk imo. Most of those duds have come as very good palyers who've done well in the league and look how that turned out. How is Arshavin or whatever his name is a "reasonable risk", can you explain that to me? Short of you being a *insert name of whoever the hell he plays for here* season ticket holder on the sly or at least having some sort of subscription to The Ruski Channel, I fail to see how you could possibly know that. Done well in Europe (nearly one in two in the Eufa cup) and NT level and has interested a lot of top clubs in Europe, some a lot bigger than ourselves, that's how its a reasonable risk. Every player is a risk FFS, surely a one with obvious talent isn't so much of one? So you need to attend 50 games to have an opinion on a player? You've just described Albert Luque there, you realise that? The UEFA Cup is fucking shit mate, you know that as well as I do. Until the quarters, you play teams from Israeli mountain villages. Let's say he turns out to be shit, hardly out of the realms of possibility, KK's spent £10m on him, do you think Ashley's going to be overjoyed when he comes for more money in four months and Keegan says "Sorry, but he looked good on a video"? Also describes Elano. Yes Wullie, fine words of wisdom in this thread.

There's more chance of Mike Ashley getting into a size 28" (w) pair of jeans than us getting Arshavin into the Toon.

I think your points are debatable, certainly not laughable. I do think Ronaldo is more consistent and and refined, but he is older. Messi is really injury prone and is already a player who you cannot rely on or build a team around. Not sure about commercial, but again reckon the twat has the edge, and a move like this would generate mass hype. As for players i think the clubs are the attraction rather than certain individuals (at this level) and even though Messi has the better given talent, but he possibly hasn't done as much with it compared to Ronaldo who's contribution really did help Manu win the double this season. Messi is better than Ronaldo was at the age of 20 though. I did say Messi has the better given talent, and i did say Ronaldo is older and more refined, so...yeah, were right.

SAF will want better than Owen. He's far to one dimensional for Manu.

Zenit St Petersburg coach Dick Advocaat has confirmed that Andrei Arshavin wants to leave the club. The Russian star had a brilliant domestic campaign last season helping Zenit to the league title and Uefa Cup. Arshavin only added to his reputation when he starred in Russia's final Euro 2008 group game - after being suspended for start of the tournament - against Sweden as scored the winner in the 2-0 triumph. The 27-year-old is being tracked by clubs from Italy, Spain, France, Germany and England - with the likes of Newcastle, Manchester City, Everton and more recently Arsenal said to be interested. Now Advocaat has confirmed that Arshavin want to move to one of Europe's biggest leagues. "Andrei has told us that he wishes to change clubs," Advocaat told reporters on Friday. "At present, in the way of offers, it is quiet. "The situation may well change after the game against Holland for the national side."

"I know Everton are interested and that Newcastle could soon make a move," he continued. Oh fuk, Newcastle almost about to do something, brace yourselves...and he's gone.

Thanks again to the Turks for another entertaining as fuk end to a football game. Germany Vs Turkey is going to be a classic, imaging the celebration from the Turks based in Germany if they won? Shame to see violence spill out after the match looked serious enough and if that were England our place in the Semi's would be on dodgy ground. But its the Turks, the can stab shoot and punch anyone the please.

His eccentricity has made him more famous than he actually is. Very average keeper at best.

I think he's got a good chance of doing well enough for them.

Snieder, Ramos & Robinho for Ronaldo. (not an actual bid, just something i think would push a quick sale) £75m of talent, Manu might as well go for it.

Kev man Clueless.

People need to cheer up, this negativity is killing me.

Interested this time round for 20 days but no concrete offers. Well done.

May have been when Depor signed him as they paid that I think. No it was when they were in trouble financially

mackems.gif Fat cunt 'withdraws' his application for the Blackburn job. Doesn't even need saying but he knew a manager with minimum experience is ahead of him and its withdrawn to save his pride. What a wanker.

Is there any Big Mike quotes in there or is it just paper spew; nice smelling spew for a change?

What's that heading and leadership? Where you from Kimbo?

ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Forever a TV pundit now. Well paid (by us) TV pundit, alongside Souness the equally well paid (by us) TV pundit. He won't drop down, and the clubs he would demand won't accept his style and his demands. Would clubs threatened with relegation even take a chance on him once the seasons sackings are underway?

Here's a tip for you young rookie. Never rely on flashy gear to get you attention. It'll only attract the wrong sort anyway. Do your thing by all means and look fresh and fly out there but never go over the top. Makes you look desperate, like your trying too hard. Despite being almost 30 and having all that money Lampard still hasn't learnt this. Cringeworthy and rather embarrassing. Fashion tips across a footie forum, seen it all now. Get yourself in the Materialism thread Kaka, you'd have a field day.
