Unless you take pride in us having a s*** defence, him staying won't bring anything but sadness. no, i don't take pride in that. if he embarrasses or disappoints then of course i want him to go. do you really think there's no hope for him to be successful at nufc? jamesD you rate marvell do you not? From what i've seen, he's been disappointing - even dangerous - more often that he's shown quality. In a couple of games he's been the embodiment of that awful "game of two halves" thing, where he has looked good one half, bad the other. But overall, he's not shown an awful lot of promise. I can only speak about him at NUFC, never having seen him play before, and on the basis of his overall performances so far, i have not seen anything that fills me with great hope. (still better than Shambles and Moore, clearly). i've only seen him 1 time in the B&W stripes so, i have to take yours and others' word (which i do) for how he does. i just hope that he can improve to be the CB nufc really need. although, i can't say i'm encouraged by the bit in bold. am i allowed to dream and cross my fingers for a miracle?! http://bears.hosttown.com/style_emoticons/default/v6fx.gif the Bonk got his prayers answered once! What kind of NUFC would you be if you couldn't do that?? ok, good! b/c as a loyal nufc supporter here in the states i claim the right to be irrationally optimistic about our team in general and gooch in particular. God, i hope he comes good. I hope so too, but I don't think he will. Still, where there's life, and all that. One thing for sure, he'll not flourish under Roeder. well, what about that new man nigel pearson? isn't he supposed to be our defensive wunderkind/mastermind etc?

    fergie's rant

Then why'd he get straight up when Morrison tried to break his leg? I dunno how anyone can dislike Ronaldo, he is so good to watch and has the potential to become an all time great. there's no need to play-act for a foul of that kind. everyone with eyes knew that card was coming. in fact, i think that CR popping up staight away could be interpreted as a sort of body language trash talk. and it isn't difficult at ALL to dislike a diving cheat. much of my dislike for him comes from the fact that cheating is COMPLETELY unecessary for CR to be one of the very best footballers in the modern game.
  11. when is the AZ 2nd leg?
  12. ameobi set to return on my birthday...
  13. i wonder if it isn't all a little too easy for oba, and that's why he misses where you'd expect him to convert or make the killer pass (wasn't dyer open "for a tap-in" when oba tried to meg the keeper?) ...he's setting himself some challenges. i can imagine him thinking sort of, "well, i know i can easily take it around the keeper here, but won't it just be the talk of the tyne if i get my hattrick through a nutmeg! oh, good pun there oba...bollocks now it's not gone in." would explain his penalty miss as well...
  14. maybe add does he fit in with our system/preferred formation
  15. sorry, cali, i don't have sentana. and now this post will have gotten your hopes up so, may i direct you to my latest youtbue thread posts in hopes of putting a smile on your face?
  16. if you're talking about table position and winning etc. then i totally agree. but in terms of fan appeal and name recognition around the world, i think we do pretty well.
  17. I like this post a lot. Supporters (at least on here) seem to think that just because its NUFC and a few years back we were a top side, we still are one, or should be preforming like one. After robson's exit, and souness' mess, it will take some time to get back to where the club should be and people really need to be more patient. The one slight flaw with that is unfortunately we can't snap our fingers and develop/lose big club mentalities/100% attitudes. We need a GOOD manager to help us as fans and the players to do that. you understand what i'm getting at though don't you, ElDiablo? we need to to stop with all the complacency on the pitch. injury list be damned, there's plenty to be said for our side when we're well up for a particular match. how much of that is down to the manager, i don't know. he can be winston churchill-esque in his pre-match & halftime talks to inspire, but if the players can't be arsed, or just don't think they NEED to be arsed... well, we end up losing to shef utd, b'ham, etc... i think we are a big club, but on the pitch, the attitude must needs be "we're going to do whatever it takes to WIN this match.
  18. my opinion is in part due to our "big club" mentality. it's all well and good to think/believe we are (and for the record, i think we are), but on the pitch smaller clubs do a number on us with alarming consistency. we rise to the occasion when we play one of our "peer" teams, Man utd, l'pool etc. which shows we can play with the big boys, but we always seem to play down to the level of teams that on paper are our inferior. we need to either: lose the big club mentality and adopt a small club's never say die, 100% at all times attitude for every opponent, OR, play every game with the clinical, ruthless, cold-hearted efficiency of a true big club.
  19. just want to say that we'd have won this match if half our side did not have the first touch of a cricket bat!
