Murphy is great to bring on when we are winning, he gas good organisation skills and covers back well and has pace for the counter attack.

I actually think werner could solve two problems at once; play him out wide with calum, then rest calum in second half and play timo through the middle…

Maddison hasn’t really played as a wide man, but could obviously play inside right or 10. If we are playing more of a 4231 instead of 433 then I totally see it.

Would rather have another striker tbf, as well as a right winger before going for a n10 like maddison

I would also go with dubs in goal. pope has been good but I do not think he has done enough to displace dubravka

The more I think about how we play i.e. high press and highly organised positioning, the less I think that maxi fits our model. He just doesn´t seem to have it in him to press, tackle or at least block the passing angles. At the moment he is a luxury at the expense of the other ten on the pitch. Love him when he is attacking with the ball at feet Hate him when the opposition right back or winger has the ball and he is STROLLING towards them

But with Asworth at the helm we are probably (I hope) looking to catch these up and coming superstars before their valuation is multiplied by 5/10

he was playing really well last night, very composed on the ball and a couple of his over the top raking passes were very close to making a difference. he covered a decent bit of ground as well, actually looked faster than normal or maybe a bit thinner...

I am beginning to think that if someone offered us 35M (standard price for any bugga these days) for him, I would snap their hand off and buy someone who would put the work in and offer some more attacking prowess. they don´t have to be "great to watch" just efficient in what they do and their contribution to the team...

Difficult one! The step from league two to champions league level is quite a jump. I don´t want to judge him on one performance... and Benfica did play well in the first half, some slick passing and aggressive approach! I would love him to come in and be our "Geordie Maradona" but i just don´t think it is realistic and the expectation could kill the kid. loan him out until christmas to a championship side and if he kills it bring him back and if he struggles let him grow with it...

Both longstaff and elliot seemed way off the pace of the game, this probably made bruno try harder and resulted in a few "forced" mistakes. Both shelvey and Big Jow looked much more comfortable on the ball and also looked much more zoned in on recovering the ball. Joe was majestic in his first twenty minutes, was like have an adult playing against a load of ten year olds!!! I liked Willock as well, added a bit of zest and great engine! Honestly thought the defence in the second half looked ten times better than the first half performance (Botman not included). The passing was much better (shelvey helped this a lot- he impressed) and less panicked (lascelles). Both the youngster and krafty played a lot better than targett and trippier, although trippier got up the pitch a couple of times and helped the goals. Calum didn´t play his best but i thought the centre half (big lad) who was marking him had a great game and got away with murder (crap ref). If calum gets injured we are Funked! (no back up tbf...). Resumé: We 100% need another striker in before window shuts. this is a no brainer! A right midfielder cum striker would be perfect, but if Miggy kept this form up in the league we would be laughing...

He has been head and shoulders above the rest in preseason (seen two games) so far. He is a nailed on starter for the righ wing at the moment.

Botman has looked pretty good. Maxi can only attack, his defensive rating on Fifa has gone down to -34? lascelles is the opposite to maxi. longstaff looks a yard too slow. dont like pope with ball at feet anderson… meh callum getting a right fight from the big lad miggy=god
