Our attitude ,never say die during a game gives us the edge over our sixth place competitors

I look at our first eleven and compare it with Manu and West ham and I HONESTLY THINK OUR PLAYERS ARE BETTER THAN THEM. 6th wouldnt surprise me in the least as I am sure we will buy one or two additions before this window closes
  4. Just looked online (spain): from every 1.800 kids playing federated football (registered and insured) only 1 will make it to a professional team (top 3 divisions)
  5. I think the rate at which the top league players (kids up to >18) make it into professional or semi professional football is only about 1%. That make it into the top sides about 5% of the above. In short: forget about making it via footy
  6. PS. That’s the reason I was so adamant at not signing dodgy full backs from atletico madrid! Watch a lot of spanish football…
  7. As an example to show the difference I can see comparing it to north of spain: Over here in bilbao they have a very good academy. And the kids teams from 9 years old up to 18 years all have scouts who can tell you the best players in literally every school and club team in the whole region. Even the so called feeder teams (think wallsend boys - at least many moons ago, couldnt say now 30 years later) have scouts who know just about every player in their respective leagues. Was really surprised at the level of knowledge and tracking they do on thousands of kids! Know this as my own lad plays (16yrs).

Howe has had a full pre season to get HIS players fit and working a playing method into their system. Last season he had to lift them both mentally and physically half way through the season under a huge amount of pressure. Our current achilles is wilson’s fitness, lack of attacking subs and some quality on the right. IF we do not address the above (wilson sub + right attack) we should reach eighth place, if we do we would be in euro places 100%
  9. Aston Villa 2 v 1 Everton Arsenal 2 v 2 Leicester Brighton 1 v 2 Newcastle Man City 4 v 1 Bournemouth Southampton 2 v 0 Leeds Wolves 0 v 1 Fulham Brentford 2 v 2 Man United Notts Forest 0 v 1 West Ham Chelsea 1 v 1 Tottenham Liverpool 3 v 0 Crystal Palace (double)
  10. Dont like gueda from valencia. Another one who flatters to deceive
  11. On a serious note, I think botman could be better suited to him than burn
  12. I would tell burn to absolutely chop him a couple of times in the first half, when he gets the inevitable yellow we bring on botman to take care of a hobbled haaland. job done
  13. Stand outs today for me were the five midfielders. defence was solid and not worried by forest. nice goal by calum otherwise I would have said he had a very average game
  14. I love you Maxi, I take back all of the black thoughts and doubts!
  15. Crystal Palace 0-2 Arsenal (Double) Fulham 1-2 Liverpool Bournemouth 2-1 Aston Villa Leeds 1- 1 Wolves Newcastle 2- 0 Notts Forest Spurs 2 - 0 Southampton Everton 1 - 3 Chelsea Leicester 0 - 0 Brentford Man United 1 - 1 Brighton West Ham 1 - 3 Man City
  16. If we did buy Sesko, Tom Jones’ “sex bomb” tune would be a killer…
  17. The fact that sterling, a better and more epxerienced player was sold for 47m, I think any more than 50 and we are getting mugged
  18. If maddison is 50M, why dont we go back in for Diaby? He was touted around the same
  19. Aye, cant see him going for less than 50M, probably with a decent up fromt payment

    Sean Longstaff

If we just forget the footballing aspect (their job) and concentrate on their personalities and how they (mis) treated us as fans, My own dislike list would be: Bruce Pardew (the king) kinnear
  21. I think the prem top eight this year will be a lot stronger than la liga (top two in each excepted). there is quite a drop from third to eighth place here tbf. The years when Atletico are playing well third is well contested.
  22. And the price. Yep, rivalry is high between these two, but at this level you would think the players wouldn’t mind…
  23. I have lived in Bilbao for 25 years and the topic of conversation has always been if they should change their recruitment policy, don’t think they will change it tbh. Really think it is great myself, just sometimes wish they would splash the cash and go for some of the better basque players available. Merino was a prime example of them not going the extra mile…
