I really don't think we are that far away from challenging for Europe, although that says more about the other sides in the league than us. Priorities: - New contracts for Barton and Enrique. - Two new strikers. That will leave us with new strikers x2, Ben Arfa, Amoebi, Best, Lovenkrands and Ranger. This will allow us to loan out Ranger which I think will be crucial if he is going to develop. - A new central midfielder. Tiote and Nolan have both done well this season but beyond them there is no depth in the centre of midfield. - A new central defender. Sol won't get a new contract so we need a central defender for depth. If we can get those four things right we will have a good season. After those four main priorities we could do with cover on the wings but I think the first four are far more important to get right.

Very poor performane tonight. I thought we completely lacked any threat going forward and we hardly fashioned a single chance all night. I suppose everyone makes mistakes once in a while but it was shocking defending by Enrique for the goal and the Duff chance earlier in the game. Looking forward I think we seriously need to look at 4-5-1 at the weekend. Best, Lovenkrands and Ranger just aren't effective enough to justify playing two of them.

This game has been overshadowed somewhat by events over recent days but it is an incredibly important match. A win tonight and we are starting to open up some real daylight between ourselves and the teams fighting it out to avoid relegation. A win tonight would put us 10 points ahead of Wigan with a game in hand, a minimum of 9 ahead of Wolves and West Ham with a game in hand on West Ham, 7 clear of West Brom and Fulham with a game in hand on Fulham and 6 points clear of Everton.

Frustrating that we have drawn another match after creating so many chances. On the bright side its a good result consdering arguably our three best players (Ben Arfa, Carroll and Tiote) were all missing. However, it is clear that we need to buy another striker if we are going to push on in the next year.

Out of his depth at this level but was fantastic in the Championship. Really hope we have got somebody lined up as we will need cover on the right.

Sounds like we have a few injury worries for this one. We need to try and strike the right balance between resting key players and not getting humiliated. I'd rest Coloccini, Enrique, Tiote and Barton.

Obviously he won't feature in this match but how close is Gosling to fitness?

I think we do need another central midfielder like. We need a good central midfielder for squad depth but you wouldn't spend that much on Ireland for him to sit on the bench.
