Ignoring the relief that we grabbed a point, we have got 1 point from three home games against Blackpool, Stoke and Wigan. That is relegation form.

Newcastle United v Wigan Pre-Match Thread - 16/10/10, 3.00 PM

It's a game we should win and need to win. The problem at the minute though is you just don't know what to expect. If we play like we did yesterday we should win but if we put in performance like we did against Stoke then we will get beat again. Also, this is really the type of game we should be going 4-4-2 in. At home against a relatively poor side we shouldn't be going just one up front. You would think against Wigan we shouldn't need five players packing the midfield. I'd go: Krul Perch-Colo(Sol)-Williamson-Enrique Routledge-Barton-Tiote-Jonas Amoebi-Carroll -
Played well but were robbed. 3 awful decisions by the ref. Absolutely fuming.

£20 for a game that is on TV and on a weeknight is crazy. 25k maximum is my guess. Surely with the extra TV money they will get for this game they could have had £10 adults and £5 concessions to make a real gesture to the fans that they wanted them to come along and back the team.
-
That is sort of the point. It's not just random match tickets that needs to be cheaper, it is everything. Season tickets and all match tickets should be cheaper. There also should be major discounts for cup matches (especially League Cup).
-
The fact is people are not stupid. Why would you fork out £25 minimum to see a match that is on TV, especially when you consider the public sector job losses and unertain economic conditions that are coming in the next few months. Football is fast becoming something that is a once in a while treat rather than a weekly event. This is not just a problem for Newcastle but for virtually every other football club in this country. If we offered tickets that people could get for say £10 minimum then SJP would be sold out every week but that is obviously not in the interest of those who control the purse strings.

Not yet. The league is the priority and we are still at a relatively early stage in the competition. If we make it through the next round though then we seriously need to start thinking about going for it.

I was a little unsure about him after the Accrington game but he played very well last night. Another bonus of us winning is it will mean he gets another first team oppurtunity which can only be a good thing.

Chelsea v Newcastle United - Wed 22nd September -7:45pm - League Cup 3rd Rd

I hope we go for it tonight and don't sit back and hope to nick a 1-0. My lineup would be: Krul R.Taylor Campbell Williamson Kadar Ranger Vukcic Smith Jonas Amoebi Lovenkrands Not the best lineup we could put out but at the same time we do need to give games to our squad players. -
Good point away from home. Well done lads.
-
To be fair the goal was Williamson's fault. Perch was marking the man behind him and Williamson should have been marking the man in front of Perch but wasn't close enough.
-
Bad draw. With Stoke at home on the weekend we will have to put out the development squad again and hope for the best.
-
Harper S.Taylor Williamson Coloccini Enrique Ben Arfa Barton Tiote Jonas Nolan Carroll I think Routledge is a massive liability down the right. He was great in the Championship but in the 2 games so far this season he has been giving the ball away too much and not providing enough cover for the RB.
-
Sounds like he would be a decent signing to play in the position that Smith played last season. Fingers crossed this gets done.
-
Hatem Ben Arfa is the Dirk Kuyt of 2010.
-
Harper Perch - Williamson - Coloccini - Enrique Routledge - Guthrie - Nolan - Jonas Carroll - Lovenkrands (Amoebi) Hopefully we can get at least a point.
-
Can't believe nobody has singled out Routledge yet. He had an absolute shocker. He was at fault for both the 2nd and 3rd goals and gave Evra a free run all night while providing little or no defensive cover for Perch. Apart from that it was as expected really. At least we kept the score down.
-
Pretty poor. Jonas to blame for the first goal for giving the ball away and Routledge to blame for the second for not marking Evra. Barton needs to pass the ball better and the team, in general, need to think before clearing their lines because it is just coming straight back at us. Need cooler heads who are going to take their time and find a Newcastle man.
-
Hoping we put in a good performance. Would be brilliant if we managed to get a result.
-
Many thanks to Tim Howard...

3-0 to Blackpool!
-
That's a bit silly. The home crowd will probably be on his back, and he won't be that motivated either. Looking at their team I think they have a few injuries so it might be a case of having to play him. They only have one other first team CM on the bench in Reo-Coker.
