  1. It does make sense in a way.... Let's say you sell someone for £60m profit in June then if it was 1 year recognition you would lose it straight away. Spread it over 3 years and the club has a chance to recycle it into new signings. Still think it should be gross fee though and not profit. Maybe take any amortisation in the year you sell and the fee over 3, deterrent against flipping Edit, overall the scr are a lot easier to work out and give less room for Man U shenanigans
  2. It's basically transfer fee divided by length of contract with adjustments for new contracts or where there is a reason to devalue the player. The rest is accounting jargon that says follow the accounting rules
  3. Hmmm a bit of a Google search would suggest that amortisation is included in the scr for both UEFA and the premier league. It seems a tad unfair that you include it in your costs and then have to deduct any unamortized value from a transfer fee.
  4. I See 4/5 going one of 2 ways. It either stays really tight with 4-8 being much of a muchness through to the final sprint and the points needed to achieve CL being lower that average as we all take points off each other Or 2-3 teams pull away as the grind of the season takes hold with it being close between 4-6 and a higher than average points total needed. I know that's real deep thinking there I think the second is more likely, potentially even City and us stepping up and everyone else dropping off a bit. Liverpool City Arsenal Us Chelsea Forest (3 game losing streak knocks them off their stride and then an inconsistent run in with more draws than anything else) Bournemouth Villa LC - Us, beating Liverpool in the final FA Cup - City
  5. Disclaimer on costs continuing after the first year but we could service £100m of purchases on £20m sale profit. The key for this summer is CL, we had a bump last season on revenue for it which was then replaced with the Adidas deal this year so getting I'm again will be a good bump up again. It wouldn't surprise me if there is a break in the Sela deal after next year. We would be well placed to justify a further jump from the £25m deal with 2 cl campaigns under the belt and having one of the most high profile players on the world wearing the number 9. Fuck it, pay to break the deal this summer and go all out with a new partner or increased Sela fee for next year
  6. What's that day called where arsenal fans celebrate finishing above Spurs? (Pettiness I'm all for). Must be on for a record in earliness this year. Also see that Southampton cannot win the league now, again isy be pretty close to a record on when the first team was mathematically out of the race
  7. Would Kluivert be an option for a RW/striker in the summer? A lot of recent bias over the past few weeks but he's steadily grown into a more than decent premier league player and only 25.
  8. Defending was shite but the header for their goal was decent
  9. cue City and Chelsea…. Hold my beer
  10. Prediction time…..another quiet summer window and the likes of Palace, Brighton and Brentford will start to change their stance on the limits as they see their business model begin to fall apart. we’re going to see the bigger teams start looking to buy from South America etc rather than wait and pay a premium from a PL club so double whammy in having more competition to buy and a smaller market to sell in. Brighton’s last windfall drops out after next season and I don’t see another £80m duo there atm
  11. Go back to last summer and Karius leaving left us with Pope, Dubs and Gillespie. Given the showings Dubs gave last season most of us would have agreed that our GK department needed some reinforcements. Obviously nobody so that being Ruddy and Vlad but the position needed looking at
  12. No wonder our match day commercials are so low with that competition
  13. It feels like Howe is typically a 'next game' sort of guy but it really would make sense to bring in Miley/Willock for Big Joe here. The City-Forest-Liverpool games are massive after this and Fulham and we could do with him not picking up 2 yellows and missing 2 of them
  14. Is there a reason why all stadium tours are unavailable after March? Was hoping to get up either Easter week or late August but all dates to the end of December are unavailable
  15. I think Sky would be more worried with the lack of transfers in that it will result in fewer 'names' being signed from abroad as they have no resale value once they hit 26/27 which makes the league less marketable overall. And then social media takes over and Tik Tok becomes the primary medium for consumption of output
  16. This may be a controversial one but I don't think academy players should be 100% PSR profit. I'd set a sliding scale of say 50 first team appearances and any transfer fee is then offset by the number of games played in the first team below 50 x 1/50 of the fee - if that makes sense? So say Chelsea sell an academy product for £50m who has only made 10 appearances the profit is £50m - £40m. It would never happen is it would hurt the cartel club more than anyone else.
  17. He's even got a ready made song in the 'king of rock and roll'
  18. We need a couple of options up front At 1-2 yesterday our options were throwing on a raw youngster or tweak the midfield. Nothing you could say would change the game going forward. Miley was the only one who you could look at to maybe bring some control there.
  19. Similar to JDT he came within a whisker of scoring on his debut, I do wonder if their stats would have been better had those goals gone in. JDT of course has the Shearer injury in play, but Miggy has the fact he has been played out of position for most of his time here
  20. If we're starting from a position of just about being ok for this season PSR wise then this sale would allow us to bring forward a £30-£40m singing from the summer. One more sale and we're looking at a Mbuemo level signing headroom
  21. For different reasons I'd love it to be Bruno or Murphy. Ideally both and Isla score as well demolish Liverpool 3-0. Actually fuck that, Bruno, Isak and Gordon score before Murphy lashes in a very late winner in a 4-3 score settler
