Financial Fair Play / Profit & Sustainability
Colos Short and Curlies replied to Mattoon's topic in Football
I cba to go back to what I worked out in August but under the PSR rules as they were we had plenty left in the Isak well to spend in January or in the summer. It was something like adding £40m amortisation to next year's accounts would be fine for next season and the one after that. As well as the profit you've got to consider to that the amortisation for Isak also drops out of the subsequent season calcs. -
I wonder if we see the arse fall out of the Saudi League this summer, going to be a hard sell getting people over there with a war on the doorstep. With the Saudis still needing to showcase the world cup it would be handy if they had another asset they could use.
-
It's criminal that there's no premier league football over Easter weekend anyway, but giving the new Spurs boss an extra week before his first game just adds to the criminality.
-
Can't believe you've not used hammered for the West Ham game. Missed opportunity
-
I thought he would be one of the world cup managers moving back to club football this summer but apparently he wants to stick around until 2028 when his contract ends.
-
Id be more worried about Bruno leaving it we qualify for the Champions League. Seems the sort that would rather leave on a high.

And how many of those midfielders have subsequently played through knocks or had spells out injured? Not just about one game, we took a midfield option out by playing him right back (where he did exceptionally well) when we had an option on the bench with as much first team experience at right back. Its also not not about putting 6/7 kids into a cup game, its using a situation to see if a highly rated youngster can short term fit in the first 11 to help in an acute crisis Fast forward, there's a good chance that Tino leaves this summer and Howe has no idea if he needs to get 1 or 2 right backs in, next season we're in exactly the same position in not knowing if he is up to it, only he is a year older. As much as we'd love it to be as simple as concentrating on the next game or next handful the job is also forward planning, something we didn't do last season or this season and now leading us to a summer of massive upheaval

Miley is a special talent, no getting away from that but he'd been in match day squads for half a season and played 14 mins in the final game of the season. One EFL start and 9 mins off the bench in the champions league before he was thrown into the first team as a regular starter. I've no idea on how good Shahar is or will be but he's there or thereabouts the same first team match day squad experience as Miley was and is supposedly highly rated. We of course can't go back however playing Miley at right back worked but left the midfield light, we may, or of course may not, have been better off with Miley in the middle and Shahar given a shot.
-
How many minutes had Miley had 2 years ago before he was thrown into the first team? Sometimes situations call for sink or swim
-
To counter that, perhaps we only turn up for the big teams? And if that's the case there's a lot more tes who we play who are not what are perceived as big matches so it is a problem

Within 10 mins Score in the first 5 mins, foot down to get a second then keep it up until we hit 5 before half time. Neave on to score a brave second half then declare -

We just need to start at full pelt, like we have at home in the champions league big games. These aren't Barcelona, they'll crumble like Spurs did a couple of years ago. If we start slow and look to grow into the game it will be a hard slog -
Great foul
-
Don't even need to go back that far, just compare it to Tuesday and it looked like we had next to no chance

Assuming Tonali is out Ramsey Tino Thiaw Botman Hall Little Joe Ramsey Big Joe Murphy Gordon Barnes Hit them hard first 10 mins, seriously look to blow them away with an intense start. Paraphrasing Mr T here, I want to see pain -
May sound weird but I'd take the way we went out any day of the week compared to being 2-0 up after the first leg and losing 3-0 in the second, or even being one goal up at half time then losing the second half by 2 goals. They turned on the style for 30 mins last night, we got docked by a very very good attacking team. It happens
-
You can if you have a good relationship and everyone is aligned that there is a slight knock, kind of a break glass in emergency sort of situation.
-
Normally I'd agree but we should give/ask instruction for light participation in the games as they are a chance to continue the upward trend back to form
-
He'd been here 18 months at that point and wasn't captain etc along with being the player most likely to generate a big fee. it would still have been a stupid decision but his standing at the club has improved (from a very high position anyway) since then

Id use Osula to counter a loss on Wissa, but then Saudi is not going to be an option for many players this summer unless things really calm down quickly in Iran. Front 4 of Gordon, Jackson, Woltemade and Vipotnik gives flexibility, experience and growth potential. Midfield core of Bruno, Miley, Ramsey. One of the Joes to stay then depends on Tonali as to what we need Then who the fuck knows with the rest. Barnes, Hall, Tino, Thiaw and Botman your think form part of the first team squad unless they want out but they all need competition plus 2 keepers and the right wing needs work
-
Throw everything at the derby, 3 week break then Bruno and Miley back. 6 out of 7 (draw with Arsenal) and see where it gets us Kind of no excuses now, good break then a game a week with a full squad
-
The pre match analysing has hit here. Strangely I think we have a better chance now than we would have at 2-0 from the first leg. It changes the homes team psychology from must attack and win 3-0 to a more methodical approach of any won will do. Less intense for the first 15, allow us to grow into the occasion
-
Knowing our luck we'd get Europa League the season that Atletico Madrid, Bayern, Milan are all entrants
-
2 games and I reckon we'll be above Chelsea
