At the total risk of getting absolutely discreditted from any kind of valid opinion I actually think that judging by Carr's performances and fitness this pre season, he wouldnt do too badly in a decent defence....

I see him most likely playing in the most attacking position of a centre midfield 3, or even the most central of the 3. That or possibly 1 of the 2 players off the main striker. Good thing about him playing in the attacking CM position is that we can revert to 4-4-2 without needing to bring anyone on if necessary.

If the mackems put in a bid for Shorey I really can't see him going to them, because unless he's had some kind of falling out with people at Reading then the only reason he's gonna reject a new contract offer is because he feels he wants to play for a bigger club, and Sunderland are in pretty much the same situation, if not worse than Reading at this point in time. Unless of course he's a greedy bastard and wants more money!

In my opinion Shorey would be the safest bet as I prefer him to Baines, and he has Prem experience. For some reason I want the 21 year old Spaniard though...

I prefer a 4-4-2 formation so if I was to select a line up from a fully fit squad I would probably go with: 1. Given 2. Geremi 3. Drago 4. Rozenhal 5. Taylor 7. Milner 11. Duff 6. Barton 8. Emre 9. Viduka 10. Owen Question marks there though whether Emre and Barton would work, and I didnt put Cacapa in (assuming he's signed) because I've not seen him play. I havent seen Drago... play either but I'd imagine he's better than Babayaro.

I reckon it'll be Smith. Not a bad replacement imo, can play in midfield and cover up front if necessary. Good determination, work rate and not likely to cause any shit.

Aye thats right. Makes it more of a gamble now, it's either - he's away for the season or maybe playing reserve team football all season. Personally i'd take the risk and loan him out to the highest quality team that will have him. That would be the best for him in the long run. I would as well, I'm not sure on the details though, like whether you can loan someone out in the January window anymore, and whether if you do they would have to stay until the end of the season, or a year from the date of the loan. Safest bet if possible would probably be to keep him until January, assess the injury situation, and if all 4 strikers are still fit then loan him out. At least that way he'll get half a seasons first team football for someone.

agree with pretty much all of that, although stamina is one thing you cant say Milner doesn't have, he probably has the biggest engine in our entire squad! I personally think that this Dyer situation is bullshit and I hope that Im proven correct and he stays because I think that he is a good player and I dont think that we are in any position to be losing any players.
