One thing I get from RTG is that they are adamant that we will be the same as when McClaren was in charge, nothing is going to change.

I don't particularly agree with the Adam Johnson chanting and I certainly wouldn't take part, but 100% it's not aimed at anyone but Johnson and that "classy" club as vitriol. He's caused a lot of anger for a number of reasons and deserves everything he gets but not at the expense of that lass and her family. Totally agree I would much rather hear chants for Benitez and getting behind our own team, fuck the mackems, let's concentrate on us and hope we win this time.

Some stiff competition there! Dalgleish - Dismantled the best team we've ever seen and replaced them with John Barnes, Ian Rush and Stephane Guvarch. Gullit - Twat. Souness - Started the post-Robson decline Kinnear - Mike Ashley's soul mate Pardew - Most hated manager in history Carver - Laughably out of his depth McClaren - Utterly rudderless I only ever really hated three managers, Pards, Allardyce and a long way further down the line Souness. Pardew and Allardyce are the worst by a long distance, absolute bell ends the pair of them. This for me too, it's been that long I think people forget how fucking despicable Souness was. All three are utter cock wombles though and I'll be glad if I never have to see their extremely punchable faces again. -
I refuse to listen to the so called experts on the matter, it's like our new Liverpool friends have come on here and said, he's never been well liked in the media circuit because he suffers no fools. After the shitfest Pardew, Carver the McClaren have served up you'd have to have some severe learning difficulties to think an established Manager like Benitez won't do better just by being there. Plus this is little old Newcastle, too far from London to be any kind of significant. Let them spout the shit they want to spout, don't let them spoil your party.

It's not the back 4 that concerns me, it's the protection they don't get from midfield. Hoping Rafa finds a quick way to make us compact without the ball Have to agree with you here, the back 4 aren't as bad as everyone thinks, the major problem is them being horribly exposed time after time, too many times players just ghost past our midfield and leave the defence out of position or chasing someone who's twice as fast as them. I reckon we have enough to be much better in that position so long as we're difficult to break down from the centre mid.

I don't expect anything from this game other than a change in approach, style, commitment and heart. If we see that then the results will come in due course. I'm also not writing this game off as I'm positive Benitez isn't either, no one in this league is unbeatable on your day. -
The one thing which is evident from that video, that we've also been lacking for a number of years that will make a huge difference is movement. On and off the ball, looking for those triangles, keeping everything moving, showing for the ball and losing your marker. If he can drill that into our lot we will improve massively! Down from a 9 to a 4, this is very much in our hands now, we're facing those teams around us very soon. I agree with TRon, we could catch Palace now if we see a good upturn in results and they continue their slide into obscurity but it would take too much for two of us to catch them and drag them in. I think the worst that they could worry about at this point is 17th but by a small margin. Swansea are seeing some improvements and will get enough points to pull clear.

Got it in their heads they're going to bring us back down to earth and it's a nailed on 7th win for them. Actually saying they prefer FSA to Benitez and he's not a good manager. Not sure if it's just a jealousy/defence mechanism or they truly are that deluded? I hope they remain cocky about it, it'll make it all that more satisfying if we beat them.

If this pays off I think he's really saved his own bacon here.

FYP, incredibly really Is Cathro assistant manager still? http://my.telegraph.co.uk/cheechdog/files/2014/01/Evolution-Photo-by-Tkgd20071-450x281.png

I think you're underestimating the change a good manager can bring, when Sir Bobby took over from a failing Gullit he turned a massively failing squad around quickly starting with a draw at Chelsea and a massive 8-0 win against relegation rivals Sheffield Wednesday. Granted Rafa doesn't have Shearer to call upon but Shearer was going through a barren spell and finding times difficult until Bobby came in and changed his game, saw the problems and helped him work with the strengths he still possessed, he score 5 that day. Now I'm not saying he's will turn Collback into Makalele overnight or Mitrovic into Shearer but this squad has been badly mismanaged for too long and with the right vision and coaching a lot more can be found from there. You could be right about Ashley, though he does seem to want to spend what the club has available to it and going for Rafa in the first place is a massive step in the right direction and a statement of intent. I hope (there we go with that word again) that this is a new leaf but again he could just as easily pull the rug out from underneath us. We'll see how it pans out but right now I'm enjoying what's happening and I'll revel in the hope that it brings, if those hopes get dashed on the rocks again so be it.

I think we can get a draw in this, Rafa won't have much time but he'll have us difficult to beat and much more organised. I'll accept a narrow loss in a game SMC would have had as a write off so long as we see good improvements and I think we will. Just to have a manager that knows how to set up a team and create tactics, not to mention being proactive with substitutes will be a massive change from what we've put up with for the past 5 years. I'll remain quietly confident, we have the tools now, it's up to the players to learn from Rafa and play for their jobs. -
Rags are saying we haven't even spoken to him properly yet, this is going to drag out, IF it happens. This is it though, do or die, last roll of the dice and all them analogies. If he fucks us off then we're as good as fucked.

Absolutely this, it looks like putting all your eggs in one basket, unless they have a contingency plan that is...
-
Having read the report it seems the ball is firmly in our court, give him the power he wants and he'll come, bit of a no brainer really, still don't trust them to get it right like.
-
The guy is a useless twat but if he brings about the appointment of Benitez and a change in direction followed by survival then he's been our most pivotal appointment of the Ashley regime.
-
If this goes through you're starting all match day threads and transfer threads for the players we want.

This could be the start of a beautiful friendship

On a more positive note, we can all make $300 a day if we click on the top link there (yes I clicked the link)

Surely now, the remaining Ashley apologists must see how bad things are, this comedy of errors is going to cost us our premier league status, yes McClaren would have managed it on his own but unless this is brought to a swift conclusion it'll do even more irreparable damage.
